Bonjour a tous Light and Shadow. Four centuries of French painting XVII - XX century. 19 March - 19 June 2005 a Varsovie An exhibition of French paintings from the 17th century to the end of the 20th century. It includes 129 works of art by outstanding artists including, among others, Georges de la Tour, Nicolas Poussin, Claude Lorrain, Charles Le Brun, François Boucher, Jean Honoré Fragonard, Jean Simeon Chardin, Jean Antoine Watteau, Jacques Louis David, Eugene Delacroix, Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres, Theodore Rousseau, and also the most outstanding Impressionists and Post Impressionists including, among others, Edgar Degas, Claude Monet, Pierre Auguste Renoir, Paul Cézanne, Paul Gauguin and Alfred Sisley. The exhibitions also contains works by two of the most famous exponents of Cubism, Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, as well as famous artists from the second half of the 20th century such as Yves Klein and Balthus. The paintings are being brought over from the best known museums in France, including the Louvre, the Musée d'Orsay, the Picasso Museum and the Pompidou Centre. This exceptional exhibition may be the largest and most important event in the history of Polish museums in the first decade of the 21st century. It is not often that such splendid works of art, and in such numbers, are exhibited in Poland.
