Une question me trotte dans la tête lorsque je prépare mes départs de l'été 2007 à moto (Croatie en juillet, Gallice en août) :
Est-il judicieux donc faisable d'emporter une ou des cartouches de gaz pour réchaud camping-gaz dans une valise latérale de moto, avec les risques de chaleur ???
Comme une tortue avec sa carapace, lors d'un trip de vacances à l'étranger en itinérant, il se peut fort que la moto reste en plein soleil, peut-être toute une journée lors de visites à pieds, avec les valises dessus... et le gaz à l'intérieur !!!
La question reste la même... pour emporter ou non tout autre type d'aérosol (le lubrifiant chaîne étant encore plus utile à la moto que le déodorant...).

Je voyage en moto depuis 25 ans, avec mon camping gaz et je n'ai jamais eu d'explosion de moto!
Pourtant, j'ai parcouru des pays où il faisait très chaud, bien plus qu'en Croatie.
Le gaz est dans une cartouche qui est prévue pour supporter les hautes températures.
A priori, tu devrais pouvoir partir tranquille.
Ci-joint quelques photos où l'on peut imaginer les températures....
Pour être plus précis, j'ai également beaucoup utilisé le réchaud à essence lors de longs voyages car je craignais ne pas pouvoir trouver de recharges dans certains endroits.
Cela permet d'être autonome et le rendement est très bon.
Seul inconvénient: la casserole se noircit trop rapidement à mon goût.

Je n'ai pas encore investi dans un réchaud "multi-carburants", plus tard, donc camping gaz ira très bien avec mini réchaud !!!
Pour info, je roule aussi en TA 600 de 96 que j'utilise tous les jours depuis 2 ans 1/2 ; ces trips estivaux seront mes premiers grands voyages à moto !!!

Salut Tatra, .. de quel poids parles-tu ? du poids du mini réchaud et d'une petite cartouche cv270 ? Euh, par rapport à ma tente + sac couchage + matelas (le tout pourtant en version light !), y'a pas photo au niveau du poids. Je vais plutôt faire gaffe à la répartition du chargement entre les valises latérales, le top-case et le sac réservoir. Si on veut être autonome, faut bien trimballer le minimum, et même si je ne vais pas en plein désert, ça prend tout de suite des grosses proportions, j'suis d'accord avec toi ! D'où les nombreuses lectures sur le forum au sujet des trips en moto.

Michel Depuis 25 ans que je voyage en moto (700 000 kms), je reconnais que le poids, c'est l'ennemi, mais le plaisir du petit déjeuner chaud, le matin, vaut bien un (petit) effort. J'ai notamment le souvenir d'un thé chaud avec un bout de pain qui a eu des allures de festin quand, au réveil, le thermomètre indiquait -2 degrés et que le prochain village était à 10 heures de piste de là (c'était sur le plateau du Fadnoun en Algérie; voir photo). Et ce n'est qu'un exemple parmi tant d'autres. Donc, sans aucune réserve, je dis OUI au réchaud! Sinon, effectivement, j'ai plaisir à manger dans des petits restos populaires dans lesquels les rencontres sont fréquentes et l'ambiance chaleureuse. Etre autonome ne veut pas dire être replié sur soi. Christian.

Michel C'est vrai que la conversation a un peu dérivé. Je suis passé en Croatie à deux reprises pour me rendre en Grèce, puis en Turquie, et, effectivement, je n'y ai pas croisé de désert! Je voulais juste dire qu'un petit réchaud me paraissait indispensable, où que l'on aille, au moins pour le petit déjeuner, moment ô combien important pour moi. Je te souhaite beaucoup de plaisir dans ton voyage. A l'époque, la région faisait partie de la Yougoslavie, et j'avais beaucoup aimé ce pays. La route côtière du nord jusqu'à l'Albanie était particulièrement belle. Christian.

Déjà que camper ne me semble pas très pertinent pour un voyage en moto, mais alors je ne m'imagine pas me trimballer un réchaud juste pour boire un café que je trouverais aussi au coin de la rue... M'enfin, comme vous voulez... 🤪
jamais eu de problème avec les cartouche de gaz, juste savoir si l'on vend ton modèle dans la région ou tu vas, notament en scandinavie, ou partir avec un pleine et improviser
par contre j'ai abandonné l'essence qui nécessite un sans pb particulier dans des récipient un peu fragile, mais que tu peux transvaser, et surtout n'utilise pas le sans plomb de ta moto, à moins d'être un fan de la vaisselle très très grasse...
le petit café du matin embrumé peu même t'éviter de partir avant d'être vraiment "connecté", et une soupe en sachet est bien pratique quand tout est fermé, ou loin...
et puis il y a des région où il peut être avantageux d'emmener des boites comme en norvège
le nescafé permet aussi d'en proposer aux voisin....
quand au poids c'est l'ennemi, alors ne pars pas sans avoir déja roulé chargé à bloc pour apprendre à répartir ton chargement, prévois de la marge pour les fringues qui prendront du volume une fois dépliés, et anticipe tes freinages....

J'ai failli avoir un grave accident un jour en Grèce - sur Eubée : la BMW était trop chargée, en duo, et dans un lacet en descente la béquille s'est plantée dans le bitume 🙁... Le poids, l'ennemi.... 🙂

j'ai réalisé plusieurs de mes voyages avec un réchaud à gaz (j'en emmenai même 2 : un camping gaz et un coleman !!). Depuis quelques années j'ai opté pour un multifuel, mais j'emmène toujours une petite cartouche de gaz pour le café du matin (c'est plus rapide....). Mais, mon grand secret c'est mon barbecue "motard", et oui !! c'est le meilleur moyen pour pouvoir correctement déguster quelques viandes ou poissons locaux.
Ahhh !!! une bonne dorade en sicile !! quel bonheur !! Comment la "cuisiner" sans cet ustensile indispensable ??????

En fait j'en étais arrivé à une autre conclusion : presque aucun matériel, et seulement des produits achetés prêts. J'avoue n'avoir aucun goût pour le camping - et même détester ça 🙂 !

Comme quoi il y a autant de motards différents que de modèles de motos différentes....et c'est bien pour ça que la MOTO est géniale. Moi je ne comprends pas pourquoi on va à l'hotel 😛😛
Ouf... j'ai réussi à tout lire... un débat d'idées fort intéressant et qui ne dépayse pas trop après une campagne présidentielle! Pour le plaisir, je voterai personnellement "pour", pas spécialement pour le réchaud, mais pour la liberté de vivre sa passion comme on l'aime, avec son petit café devant sa tente, ou au troquet du coin, seul ou à plusieurs, dans le désert ou en ville. Quant à la question posée, je confirme, les bouteilles de gaz sont conçues pour ne pas exploser au soleil. C'est sans doute moins vrai avec les aérosols... Mais il y a des tubes de graisse pour chaine, sans gaz (idem déodorants...)!

RDV en septembre, après cette "petite" première expérience à l'étranger (rien à voir avec plusieurs 100.000 km, même si j'ai commencé à rouler à moto il y a 25 ans aussi... mais en restant en France !) où je pourrai avoir un avis et une expérience du chargement, quitte à minimaliser l'année suivante !
Donc, je sais, pas de désert à l'horizon pour moi cette année, mais j'ai opté pour ce rêve magnifique du voyage solo à moto (que tant d'entre vous connaissent depuis des années) et ne compte pas emporter ma maison (!), un minimum pour un motard campeur à tout prix qui apprécie fortement le ptit café devant la tente au réveil, surtout quand l'endroit est magnifique, avant de tout plier et repartir vers de nouveaux endroits magiques !

Le voilà enfin mon GRAND secret :
un simple plat en alu (que je plie), quelques trous sur les cotés. Une grille à la bonne dimension, quelques pierres ou les sardines en rab de la tente pour le poser. Sinon vous laisserez une grosse tache noire d'herbe brulée et le patron du camping va pas aimer !! 😉😉
Je pars toujours avec un petit stock de charbon de bois que je renouvelle au fur et à mesure du voyage. Vous ne pouvez même pas imaginer ce que ce petit ustensile apporte de confort et de convivialité.

I’m starting to think about a trip that’s really close to my heart: Algeria by motorcycle, specifically the southern part of the country. It’d be for January 2025, and I’ve got two main questions:
Is it possible for an individual on a motorcycle to travel freely, outside of any organized tour, or does the regulation require some kind of supervision in the Algerian Sahara region?
Is the Hoggar massif accessible by road or by (rideable) tracks?
Beyond the official recommendations, I’m really looking for your firsthand experiences.

I just realized I’ve been registered on VoyageForum since... March 28, 2012 😊. Yet, I’ve barely participated until now.
August 1, 2026, will mark a somewhat special milestone: 5 years on the road.
We left Switzerland on August 1, 2021 with a simple idea: let chance decide our direction. We placed a bottle of wine on a world map, spun it... and it chose our first destination.
A year later, when we arrived in Morocco, we faced a new choice: continue toward Africa or head to Asia. This time, a tarot card game made the decision. Since then, we’ve tried to keep this journey as open to the unexpected as possible.
Today, that adds up to about 120,000 km, 46 countries, and over 1,800 days on the road—mostly by motorcycle, but also by sailboat, train, bus, hitchhiking, or on foot when adventure calls.
Our guiding thread isn’t just the motorcycle, but service exchanges. Instead of simply passing through countries, we try to stop regularly to lend a hand to the people we meet. So far, that’s about 600 days of volunteering.
Over the years, we’ve:
renovated a house in Croatia
made earth bricks in the Moroccan desert
helped sail a boat through the Greek islands
looked after houses, dogs, horses, a camel... and lots of other animals
worked at a street art festival in Morocco
created videos for local associations and projects
worked the grape harvest on the Tibetan plateau
been accredited as "media" for the World Nomad Games in Central Asia
Some of the moments that have stuck with us the most include six months in China, a night spent on the Great Wall, the Pamir Highway, the Silk Road, three months in Taiwan, and the incredible encounters in the mountains of Central Asia.
We travel on Falkor, our lucky dragon—a 2014 BMW F800GS that’s been with us since the start and is starting to have some great stories of its own.
While we share our adventure on Instagram, Polarsteps, and YouTube, that’s not why we’re here. The forum’s rules about promotion are clear, and I totally get them. If I’m finally taking the time to write, it’s mostly because after five years on the road, I thought our experience might be useful to other travelers.

I’m planning a motorcycle road trip to Armenia and Georgia in September 2026 or May 2027. I’m looking for one or more riders (male or female) who’d like to explore these countries with me.
Along the way, we’ll visit Cappadocia, the capitals Yerevan, Tbilisi, Sofia, Skopje, and other cities—we can finalize the route and roadbook later.
This trip requires experience with long motorcycle journeys, as we’ll cover around 7,000 km over 5 or 6 weeks (or more, depending on sightseeing and time spent).
I don’t expect dozens of applicants, since motorcycle riders are few and far between on this forum, but I’m putting this out there anyway.

I’m not particularly drawn to museums, ruins, or monuments.
I want to experience local life—small villages, seaside spots, beaches, and the interior if the landscapes are extraordinary.
Ideally, coming from Athens, I’d take a bus or train to get as close as possible to a starting point, then rent a scooter (125cc) to explore by taking secondary roads or even coastal paths. I’d stay in 2-3 places for a few days each to discover their surroundings.

What do you think would be the ideal itinerary?
From Athens, the best option would be to take either a flight or a bus to Kalamata. Rent a scooter and head either west or east. Is there a tertiary road (very lightly trafficked) or a path where I can ride slowly, take it easy, and enjoy the scenery without being bothered by traffic? I’d like to go all the way to Monemvasia, still hugging the coast. I need to find a way to avoid returning to Kalamata to drop off the scooter and catch a flight—maybe a small town where the train stops so I can head back to Athens.

How do you get visas for the countries I’ll be crossing: Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, and Chile? Are they e-Visas, obtained at the border, or through embassies?
Where can I get vehicle insurance?
Lastly, if any bikers want to join us (my partner and me), we’re open to that possibility too.

I’ve got 15 days off in June and I’m pretty undecided about where to go for a motorcycle road trip. Two strong desires are pulling me in different directions: Corsica or Norway.
Corsica has been a dream of mine for a long time: legendary roads, stunning landscapes, a unique vibe, and the perfect mix of sea and mountains. At the same time, I’m wondering if 2 weeks might be *too much* for Corsica—risking feeling like I’ve seen it all too quickly, especially on a bike.
Since I also have an extra week free in May, I could use that specifically for Corsica. Maybe splitting it into two trips would make more sense? If so, which routes or regions would be the most interesting to plan for a 7-day trip?
On the other hand, Norway is *super* appealing. The landscapes look incredible, totally different from anything I’ve experienced, and it’d be a real “wow” trip. I know 15 days is still short for such a vast country. Getting all the way to the North Cape seems pretty much impossible in that time, but I’m curious about what realistic routes could be planned.
So I’m wondering:
Is it better to save Norway for next year, take 3 weeks off, and do it *properly*?
Or are 15 days enough for a first amazing taste of the country?
I’d love to hear about your experiences—whether it’s Corsica (ideal duration, routes) or Norway (what’s realistic in 2 weeks on a bike).

Hello! We’re planning a motorcycle trip that will include a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau in June 2026.
We’re unsure (still debating) whether we should stay at a hotel on-site and get to the memorial with an Uber (leaving our bikes at the hotel) and book a guided tour, or base ourselves in Kraków and take a tour that includes transport.
One thing’s for sure—we’d prefer a guide in French since we don’t speak English 😅.

Has anyone here already ridden it?
Unfortunately, I’m worried that parts of the N630 may have disappeared or merged with the A66 motorway, forcing us to ride long stretches of highway, which we’d rather avoid.

This is our first motorcycle trip in Morocco. I got my license two years ago with the dream of taking this kind of trip, and here we are! ✌️😍
In France, we usually ride between 300 to 400 km per day on roadsters. We’re not used to off-road tracks, so we’re looking for easy ones 😅—especially for me 😅.
For Morocco, I’ve planned stages of 200 to 300 km per day.
