Hello,

We’re heading to Hurghada for the end-of-year holidays—could you recommend some excursions for us (we’re a couple with our 14-year-old son)? Any trustworthy agencies you’d suggest? Do we need a visa?

Looking forward to your tips. Best regards

Hi, I’ve only been there for diving with my club (back in 2016)... I’m not really sure what else there is to do in the area besides diving. The Sinai is far away. Maybe the Valley of the Kings? It’s at least a 4-hour drive (one way) to Luxor. Otherwise, locally, you can do snorkeling excursions to the nearby islands: Magawish and Giftun (Orange Bay).

I totally spaced on that question... Don’t you guys look into stuff before traveling? If you ask me, by the end of the year it’d be better not to wait too long to apply for your visa—unless you can get it on arrival in Hurghada. I’ll let the Egypt experts confirm that last option. Personally, I got mine at the Egyptian consulate in Marseille.

Hurghada is far from the archaeological sites. The excursions are rushed because the round-trip journey is long—very long. There’s nothing much to do in Hurghada except diving. It’s really a sea-and-chill destination 😎.
