Hi, I’m planning to take the ferry from Ancona to Patras with my kids (4 and 8 years old) and I’m torn between a cabin and seats for budget reasons. Has anyone here had experience with reclining seats with kids—is it doable? I remember ferries to Ireland where you could kind of set up however you wanted, with mattresses and sleeping bags—is that the case on this route? Thanks in advance!

Hi, Yes, you’ll find spaces on these ferries to set up your mattresses and sleeping bags, and you won’t be the only ones doing it. The reclining seats, on the other hand, aren’t worth it in my opinion—even for an adult (I’ve only tried them once in my life and wasn’t convinced at all). Catherine

Hi, by booking a couchette, you’ll be much more comfortable and less tired when you arrive. We made that choice for this crossing two years ago. Lots of people also set up in the hallways with inflatable mattresses, etc., but you have to get there early and miss the sunset to grab the best spots.
