Hurghada or Safaga: how to get there from Luxor?

Hi everyone,

I'm making good progress on planning my trip thanks to all your tips.

I have my return flight from Hurghada on the 18th in the very late evening.

I was thinking of spending 2 days by the Red Sea so the boys can enjoy the water:

-Can you swim in the Red Sea in mid-February? Is the water temperature okay? -People are recommending I go to Safaga rather than Hurghada—do you agree? -How do I make the trip from Luxor to Safaga or Hurghada, by bus or taxi? Do you have any idea of the taxi price? A contact?

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hello everyone, so glad your trip is coming together—it’s in a month, right? 😏 The average temperature is around 21-22°C, but the air can reach 25°C or even higher. It’s like back home—never the same, but some years at this time it can climb a bit more. Still, I’m afraid this year the average will hold, and we shouldn’t expect much more, especially if the wind picks up. If you have one, a light wetsuit might be a good idea, though lots of people are swimming at this time of year.

As for the spot on the coast, yes—you’ll arrive in Safaga first, then head north to Hurghada. But since you’re flying out of Hurghada, if I were you, I’d stay in that resort. That way, you won’t have to deal with a taxi transfer from one city to the airport. In Hurghada, you’re already close to the airport, and right now the average temperature there is about 21°C.

I’ll tell you the rest in private. Thoutmosis
