bonjour a tous,
j'ai découvert le voyage a travers le stop durant l'armée et tout simplement parce que j'en avais marre de passer des heures dans le train, puis je me suis tres vite pris au jeu, voulu partir toujours plus loin, de 500 km, c'est vite passé a 1000 puis 1500 et j'ai découvert une partie de l'Europe ainsi. Ensuite j'ai rencontré ma première femme et je me suis endormi durant pres de 20 ans pour me réveiller il y a quelques mois avec mes reves de toujours et mon ancienne devise en tete PARTIR.
Je suis de pére français et de mère espagnole mais je ne me suis jamais vraiment considéré ni comme français ni comme espagnol et me suis plutot toujours considéré comme plutot un etre humain dont le pays s'appelle TERRE. Aujourd'hui j'ai 44 ans et j'ai vécu toute ma vie en France, je ne supporte plus de ne pas bouger, je ressents l'appel du large de plus en plus intensémment, comme une drogue dont je ne peux plus me passer, je suis en manque de decouverte, de voyages..........de tant de choses que je veux connaitre, apprendre.
J'ai commencé a tout vendre et mon pays de destination sera pour l'instant le Brésil avec peut etre l'intention d'y rester définitivement mais en aucun cas je ne reviendrais vivre en France, il y a tant a faire et tant a découvrir, tant de cultures si interressantes, tant de si belles musiques, tant de tout.... et la curiosité est la plus grande de mes gourmandises.

Sache que le voyage, c'est comme le virus, tu l'attrapes, il se planque un certain temps pour réapparaître, au moment où tu t'y attends le moins.
Tous te le diront.
Alors, au Brésil, il te faudra parler le Portugais, différent de l'Espagnol.
Je l'ai visité, c'est un pays magnifique, mais hyper dangereux.
Là bas on tue pour une cigarette.
tu sais qu'en France aussi, il y a de la culture, de la musique, des théâtres, des cinés, des opéras, et même des arênes pour corridas.
Mais, si tu juges en avoir fait suffisamment le tour, tu as raison de répondre à l'appel du large. (Attention aux sirènes)
Et puis, visite plusieurs pays avant de te décider, tu as aussi ceux de l'Asie de l'Est, et ne te précipite pas trop, il te faut un éventail de choix assez large, et le coup de coeur viendra pour une destinaton finale.

ja falo um pouco portugues, j'ai déja commencer à apprendre le portuguais parlant espagnol ce n'est pas trop compliqué et je sais que le Brésil est un pays dangereux mais aussi tellement beau que je veux tenter ma chance là-bas dans un premier temps. J'ai déjà quelques contacts dans différentes villes du Brésil, ils me conseillent, me renseignent et m'aident dans mes demarches mais ce sont tous des brésiliens, je n'ai pas de contacts français au Brésil.
D'autre part je suis très attirés par leur culture et leur musique, la façon qu'ils ont d'etre et ces sentiments si fort qu'ils expriment sans cesse sans la moindre pudeur, contrairement à nous français qui nous retenons dans nos sentiments, nous ne les exprimons pas assez comme si nous étions timides et emprunts a une certaine retenue. Je ne sais pas si ce sera ma destination définitive mais ce sera la première.
Ensuite, je n'ai pas besoins de tout connaitre de la France pour savoir que ce pays ne me correspond plus, pour tout un tas de raisons. De plus, comme c'est bon de tout quitter, de tout recommencer ailleurs, ce sera une renaissance et j'en suis tellement heureux et impatient, j'ai tant de choses a faire et à apprendre...........

Juste avant, j'avais visité le Brésil, et je dois dire que la forêt est très belle, et le corcavado sublime.
J'ai pris l'ascenseur jusqu'au Christ, vue imprenable sur Rio, magnifique.
Pas trop de touristes, j'y étais allé en Décembre.
Bon, si tu penses que tout quitter est une solution pour toi, et que là bas tu as déjà des locaux pour te recevoir et t'aider, sans doute, as-tu raison de suivre ton instinct.
J'avoue que de temps en temps, j'ai aussi envie de m'expatrier mais je ne sais pas pour où.
et puis, tu auras certes beaucoup de musique et de fêtes, le célèbre carnaval, etc...........
Je suis d'accord, par moment on peut être dégoûté de la France, mais en général, on revient souvent à son port d'attache.
surtout si on y laisse de la famille et des amis, tout n'est pas tout noir, ni tout rose, ce serait trop facile.
Alors, si tu aimes l'humour, tu en auras sur mon TDM carnet de voyages, surtout à propos des Anglais.

😉 Je viens de parcourir un peu tes récits a propos de ton tour du monde, quel fabuleux voyage tu as fais, je n'ai fais que parcourir tes récits mais j'y reviendrais plus longuement car je veux tout savoir.
Je ne vais pas m'attarder sur les raisons qui font que je veux partir définitivement car ce ne serait qu'une perte de temps et je ne veux plus en perdre, trop de choses a faire et le passé est derrière, ce qui est fait est fait et on ne peut en aucun cas revenir dessus mais en ce qui concerne mes amis, j'ai fais un tri énorme et je n'en ai pratiquement plus et donc pratiquement rien qui puisse me retenir ici, ceci dit j'ai bien l'intention d'avoir des amis un peu de partout, des voyageurs ou des sedentaires à travers le monde mais des personnes riches de leurs experienses ou cultures diverses et qui ont tant a apporter, a apprendre, j'ai déjà envie de boire leur parole, d'écouter leur légendes, leur languages, leurs expressions, leur histoire ou leurs histoires.....
Ce n'est pas que je soit a ce point dégouté de la France non plus qui motive mon départ, mais plutot un reve qui ne m'a jamais quitté, l'enormisssime envie de voir d'autres horizons et cette soif qui ne me quitte plus, tel un explorateur qui va aux devants de mondes qu'il ne connait point et ou tout ce qu'il va découvrir est tout nouveau pour lui y compris certains sentiments a ce point dévellopés qu'il en est surpris et qu'il en éprouve un bonheur si intense qu'il veut encore aller et encore aller et encore et toujours plus encore, aller au plus loin dans ce periple extraordinaire, celui d'une vie trépignante et pleine de richesses............
Saches que j'apprécie énormément tes recits et tes réponses, et, oui moi aussi j'aimerais que d'autres viennent se joindre a nous, je suis nouveau ici et vous avez l'air d'etre tous si intérressants et tant a dire et à faire découvrir de par vos différents voyages, merci a toi, bonne journée et à bientot.

Ne rien regretter dans la vie, certains hésitent par peur de l'inconnu, et d'autres sont terriblement attirés par l'aventure.
si tu laisses derrière toi, des souvenirs pas trop agréables, ce sera bien de te reconstruire ailleurs.

J'ai beaucoup hésité sur mon choix de destination, au départ entre l'Argentine et le Brésil, puis en parlant avec des Argentins et des brésiliens sur leur pays respectifs et sur leur façon d'etre et de vivre, en apprenant à les connaitre au fil des mois, mon choix s'est plutot porté sur le Brésil. Pays qui m'a toujours beaucoup attiré puis j'ai aussi longuement pensé à la ville dans laquelle j'allais pouvoir commencer quelque chose de si magnifique, ce reve qui petit a petit commence à se transformer en réalité, Rio de Janeiro ou Manaus, là aussi j'ai longuement hésité Manaus se trouvant dans une tres belle région, mais je n'ai pas de contacts sur place, juste une amie qui s'y trouvait jusqu'a hier et qui a de la famille sur Manaus mais qui vit a Cacoal. Donc, a moins d'avoir une bonne opportunité ailleurs ma destination définitive sera Rio de Janeiro bien que ce soit réputé comme étant une ville dangereuse.
Que fais tu a Manaus, as tu pu avoir un visa permanent, j'ai plein d'idées pour travailler mais je ne sais si cela est possible avec une mise de départ de 20 a 30 000 euros, j'ai peur que ce soit insuffisant ?
Enfin de toutes façon j'ai d'autres idées aussi et rien ne me fera reculer vivement le départ et merci pour ta proposition de passer a Manaus qui est une région par laquelle je passerais obligatoirement.

tout comme toi, j'ai commencé par le stop.pour l'aventure et le cout. ainsi j'ai parcouru l'europe et l'afrique du nord. à ce jour j'ai traversé une centaine de frontieres (certaines plusieurs fois) j'ai donc adapté ma vie au voyage. les deux problemes pour le voyageur sont le temps et l'argent. l'adage dit que "le temps, c'est de l'argent" j'ai toujours pensé que c'était le contraire.
tu dis vouloir quitter l'hexagone pour aller au brésil, peut etre définitivement. alors ce n'est pas un voyage, c'est un déplacement.dans le meme temps, tu dis etre en manque de découvertes, vouloir connaitre et apprendre. alors! voyages!
j'ai toujours pensé qu'un jour je trouverais le coin pour me poser ...définitivement, que le voyage s'arreterait normalement. pas par lassitude mais simplement parce que ce serait le moment. j'en ai trouvé plein de coins sympas, mais pour l'instant j'ai toujours eu envie d'aller encore ailleurs.un jour je dirai sans doute "c'est là!" et je poserai mon sac...définitivement. je quitterai le pays des droits de l'homme pour un autre qui sera celui de mes devoirs.alors vas! découvres! apprends! et tu finiras par trouver le petit coin de planete ou tu sera bien.

Mon départ n'est pas un simple voyage ou déplacement, je pars en quète de sentiments perdus que je ne retrouve plus ici, peut etre est-ce du à ma condition de vie ici, peut etre est-ce du à autre chose et je ne me pose meme pas la question mais je crois pouvoir la trouver chez ce peulpe si touchant que sont les Brésiliens, bien sur je ne les connait que tres peu et c'est pour ca que je parle de départ et de m'installer PEUT ETRE définitivement au Brésil mais il y a une chose qui est certaine et c'est tout simplement que je met les voile sans regarder derrière a la recherche de ces sentiments si beaux que peuvent ressentir certains etres, la sensibilité par exemple. Nossssssssssssaaaaaaaaa quel beau mot si merveilleux et si magnifique que celui-ci SENSIBILITE mais encore tellement mais tellement plus beau dans n'importe laquelle des langues latines SENSIBILIDADE a tel point que meme son sens en devient plus éxpressif et tellement plus profond.Ce sentiment est d'une pureté indicible et les larmes qu'il provoque sont d'une beauté inégalable, ce sentiment ne peut en aucun cas tricher, il ne peut etre que sincère tel qu'un poème qui sort de l'imagination de cet écrivain qui se joue des mots avec une grande aisance et dont leur signification font ressortir du plus profond de lui meme toutes les sensations qu'il veut faire éprouver à ses lecteurs telles des vibrations qui vont envahir celui-ci et qui ne peut que réaliser la vérité et la sincérité de ses paroles. Je t'aime comme un fou Sensibilidad, je reve tant de toi meme en plein jour et tu m'as fais parfois couler de ces larmes de pureté qui peuvent etre d'une si grande joie.
Je crois avoir trouvé chez ce peuple, ce genre de sentiment si fort, et qu'ils savent de plus tres bien éxprimer avec des mots, je dois aller de moi meme découvrir tout ça.
Il y a peu j'ai lu le mot qu'un Brésilien écrit à sa fiancée qui, tellement heureuse d'etre ainsi aimée voulut en faire profiter ses amis, et que voici en espagnol car je pense que ce sentiment est encore plus fort tel qu'il a été dit mais que je traduirais ensuite : " llevo en mis venas le magia de tus besos y el fruto de este amor " " je porte dans mes veines la magie de tes baisers et le fruit de cet amour " J'ai trouvé ce mot tres beau et dans tous leur textes lorsqu'ils parlent d'eux meme ou de leur proches, ils vous font sentir des choses que j'avais oublié, l'espace d'un instant, cet instant pendant lequel je me suis assoupi, ces 20 petites années, mais qui ressurgissent, me font espérér et meme, oh quel bonheur : REVER.

tu sembles faire une fixation sur le brésil. tu sublimes ce peuple, que tu connais peu ou pas, tu risques d'etre déçu. je ne veux pas te décourager, au contraire, j'admire ton entousiasme et j'adore les brésiliens.mais la sensibilité qui semble te faire défault n'est pas une exclusivité brésilienne. tu peux la trouver un peu partout dans le monde, en afrique, en asie ou derriere la haie de ton jardin. cela dépend de toi. il n'y a pas de pays idéal. un petit paradis peut devenir un enfer et une terre hostile un havre de paix.tu es impatient de partir, et tu dis te mettre à REVER. mais les reves rejoignent rarement la realité.
cependant, il faut partir puisque tu l'as décidé, rester serait regretable. il y a une petite parcelle de bonheur pour chacun sur cette planete, il suffit de la trouver. moi je cherche toujours la mienne, mais je suis optimiste, ça va venir, ça va venir.

I’m reaching out to all travelers and globetrotters on this forum. I’m a teacher in Creuse, working in a ULIS program (which welcomes children aged 6 to 12 with disabilities into a mainstream school). This year, I’m starting a school journal project that will involve the kids in many different topics. A big part of the journal will focus on opening up to the world, diversity, travel, countries, culture...
I’m launching a call to invite as many of you as possible to send us a little postcard (from France or anywhere in the world!) to take us on a journey and help us discover new places, countries, and horizons—much more fun and exciting than a regular geography textbook! One section of our journal could be called "We received mail from " and would be an opportunity to research that location and share what we learn with our readers (a super enriching activity in class).
The project starts in September 2025 but has no real end date, as this journal and world discovery initiative will span several school years (the kids stay in my ULIS program for multiple years). Postcards can be sent anytime—throughout the year, across seasons, even during holidays! (The kids will find them when they return.)
I hope this idea appeals to as many of you as possible and that you’ll spread the word to your fellow traveler friends. Make us dream, take us on a journey!!!

I just discovered a great show on Arte.
It's called "7 en route": seven young European journalists travel around Europe in a fully converted bus, making reports on every city they visit. It's amazing! 🙂
Yesterday, for example, they were in Rome, Italy, and the reports included things like the world's smallest restaurant—a super romantic spot for two. There was also a report on the king of paparazzi in Italy.
They have to pick topics that let us discover the little quirks of each country. And at the end of each episode, we get to see the finished report.
It's such a great show, mixing journalism, travel, and discovery—basically, a must-watch!
It airs in the evening starting at 6:50 PM (I think), and it started this past Monday, July 14th.

I left my heart’s country eight days ago and returned to my adopted one—or was it the other way around? Scotland-Morvan, Morvan-Scotland, I’m not quite sure anymore.
After a quarter without dragging my slippers around here, even though I’d loudly declared I had no interest left in this site, here I am again!
My imagination never stays fallow for long. Just enough time for my inner land to rest. It gets overgrown with fresh nettles, the kind you can pick without getting stung. Then, it’s time to till the fragrant earth and let the story grow.
I hesitated over where to set this story.
Maybe the Highlands, maybe the Hebrides, maybe the Orkney Islands, maybe the Shetland Islands. All of Scotland is myth—easy to embroider.
But in the end, no. I’d almost be too afraid to bare my soul.
The story will take place at home. Simple, practical.

This morning, I was up well before dawn, feeling a bit grumpy, but nothing a bowl of coffee won’t fix. I love my bowl, and no one dares take it. It’s porcelain, edged with intertwined blue flowers. On the bottom, it says "Revol." The factory has existed long before the Revolution. It was my great-grandmother’s bowl. She drank roasted barley from it during the war, then her Leroux chicory.
Last year, a little guy dropped it. My bowl broke into three pieces. A black anger vibrated deep inside me. The little boy was so upset, on the verge of tears. How could I scold him!
I picked up the three pieces and took Little Boy in my arms. His hair smelled of the light, sweet sweat of toddlers. A gentle hug that healed—his budding sorrow and my anger—everything vanished, and time carried on.
Today, my bowl is even prettier. Man fixed it using the traditional kintsugi technique, except he didn’t use gold powder or lacquer but superglue, and he delicately painted the cracks with woad blue. And my bowl is even more beautiful now.
I’m lingering, I can tell—it’s just that a story wraps itself in life, and life can’t be told in the snap of a finger. Life is long. Like in architecture, you start with a rough sketch, called a "sous-cul" (the initial pencil drawing), then you make a tracing, which is the work itself, the one you later carefully roll up in a wooden tube.
Life is like that: you erase, you start over, you use the nub of the pencil until it’s tiny, but you keep going—dreaming, loving.

On this forum, we talk a lot about trekking in the Himalayas, but I’d love to share another side of Nepal: its spiritual, cultural, and religious atmosphere, especially in Kathmandu.
Nepal, much like Tibet and Bhutan, is deeply connected to the Himalayas—the ultimate sacred mountain range. This small country exudes a calming vibe, shaped by a strong spiritual dimension. What I loved most was the unique sensory experience you get there. Walking around temples and tantric monasteries, a distinct scent fills the air—aromatic plants used for ritual fumigation. Locals mainly burn Himalayan juniper, cedar, sandalwood, and other local essences. This fragrant smoke is a way to purify the space and reach the deities, and you’re constantly enveloped in these aromas.
Another striking aspect is the sound. As soon as you step outside, you hear bells ringing in front of temples. People ring them three times before praying to announce their presence to the deities. Nepal is also the birthplace of singing bowls and sound meditation practices. In Kathmandu, you can easily find meditation sessions or "sound baths."
The spiritual dimension is everywhere: a Hindu sadhu practicing asceticism, a lama in deep red robes with his mala, turning a prayer wheel while murmuring "Om mani padme hum." Newar Buddhism, Tantrism, and Hinduism coexist harmoniously in daily life.

I just couldn’t bring myself to actively participate in other French-language travel forums—their format and way of doing things never appealed to me as much. I really hope that VF’s structure, categories, and interface won’t change too much despite the handover, because I’m very attached to them. I’m planning a 3-week trip to Japan in May with Voyage Privé. The package includes a 5 GB eSIM, but my phone isn’t new enough to support it. VP told me I could buy a SIM card when I arrive at the airport.
Sure enough, I’ve seen online that this is possible with different providers.
I only need it for checking routes, looking up addresses, train schedules, etc.—basically using Google Maps, TripAdvisor, and similar apps. No heavy downloads or major internet use. All hotels should provide free Wi-Fi for that, right?
Has anyone got any tips for me on this? What have you tried, and how much did it cost?

I wanted to share a really unpleasant experience from our last trip booked with Promoséjours and organized by FTI.
We booked an 8-day/7-night stay in Egypt, from June 8 to 15.
The flight initially scheduled was changed a week before departure to take off at 10 PM from Paris CDG.
In the end, it took off with a 1-hour delay and included an unmentioned stopover in Marsa Alam.
We landed in Hurghada at 4 AM and arrived at the hotel at 6 AM.
So, we spent our first night on the plane.
For the return trip, surprise—the flight was moved up. We left the hotel at 10:30 PM on Friday the 14th to take off at 2 AM and land at 7 AM at Paris CDG.
So, we spent our last night on the plane too.
After sending a complaint letter to Promoséjours / FTI, they replied that the first and last days can be dedicated to transport (which I already knew) and that no matter how many nights you book, you’re not guaranteed to spend them in the hotel—it could just as well be on the plane.
I’m really questioning this.
Isn’t there a law that protects customers in cases like this?
Because when I do the math, the first and part of the second day were spent on transport, same for the second-to-last and last day. And I paid for 7 nights for a stay that only lasted 5.
Anyway, I just want to say thanks to them—thanks to their two sleepless nights in transit, I’m coming back even more exhausted from a trip that was supposed to be restful!
I also want to warn anyone booking through this agency about visas for Egypt.
At booking, they told me the visa was included in the price, then they sent me an email saying I’d have to pay for it on-site at 25 €.
Once there, we were directed to a special line for FTI customers, and guess what? They charged us 30 €!
Basically, they’re great at making sure you *enjoy* your vacation—mostly by enjoying your wallet!
If anyone has dealt with this kind of situation and won their case, I’m all ears.

I’m heading to Thailand for two months.
So I thought I’d get a Thai SIM card to use Google Maps for getting around cities, mostly.
Here’s my question: will this SIM affect my apps? Or will they work the same as with my Orange SIM?
Is there any setup I need to do, or can I just pop in the Thai SIM?
I’d also like to switch back to my Orange SIM now and then while I’m in Thailand—on the same phone. Will I need to reset the phone, or will it reconnect without any issues?

I’m reaching out to all travelers and globe-trotters on this forum. I’m a teacher in Creuse working in a ULIS program (which welcomes children aged 6 to 12 with disabilities into a mainstream school). This year, I’m launching a school journal project that will involve the kids in many different topics. A big part of this journal will focus on opening up to the world, embracing differences, travel, global cultures, and more.
I’m putting out a call to invite as many of you as possible to send us a postcard (from France or anywhere in the world)! The goal is to help us "travel" and discover new places, countries, and horizons in a way that’s much more fun and exciting than a geography textbook. One section of our journal could be called "We received a letter from ," where we’d research the location and share what we learn with our readers—a really enriching activity for the classroom.
The project starts in September 2025 but doesn’t have a strict end date, since this journal and world-discovery initiative will span several school years (the kids stay in the ULIS program for multiple years). Postcards can be sent anytime—throughout the year, across seasons, even during holidays! The kids will find them when they return.
I hope this idea appeals to as many of you as possible, and that you’ll spread the word to your fellow travelers. Help us dream and explore!

Hello. We’re a retired couple heading to Sri Lanka from January to March. After the November floods, I’d like to know if we can offer hands-on help to the locals, maybe pack some clothes or other items people might need in our luggage, and who we could give them to. It appears to be Somali pirates who have widened their search in the Mozambique Channel, far from their usual attack zone, since, to my knowledge, there are no Malagasy pirates.
