Best time to visit the Yucatan with family?

Hi, We had to cancel our trip to the Yucatan in April 2025. So now I’m looking at 2026. But since it’s tricky to take time off during the April school holidays (we have young kids, so we have to travel around school vacation periods), what would be the best alternative time (we’re in Zone B)?

February break: end of February / early March All Saints' break: end of October / early November Summer vacation (but I don’t think that’s ideal). I’m not mentioning Christmas—it’ll be too expensive.

Thanks,

hi there, watch out for the February/March period—I think that’s when "Spring Break" hits in North America, so American students arrive in Mexico by the planeload. Worth double-checking

But isn't that more toward Cancun? We don’t end up staying there too long in the end...

For October/November, I’m honestly a bit worried. It’s hard to tell if it’s really a good time (plus there’s Día de los Muertos, which could be cool).

exactly, but you’ll find North Americans just about everywhere. Don’t forget the American and Canadian "snowbirds" either—especially those escaping the harsh winter—so prices will be a bit higher in February-March. Keep in mind that Mexico, and the Yucatan in particular, is still way cheaper than Florida—a hostel in Tulum is $30, while in Florida, it’s double or even triple that. That said, Mexico remains pretty affordable overall, except, of course, if you head to the hotel zone in Cancun.

I’ve been to Mexico three times—twice in the Yucatan Peninsula and once in La Paz—always between November and early January. The water’s warm, the weather’s gorgeous with temps around 30°C.
je continuerais à faire très prudemment des choses dangereuses, pour pouvoir les faire longtemps...!

Is late October (the last 15 days) more unstable? That’s when school holidays are.

I always travel outside of school holidays; early October. Especially since flight tickets are cheaper

Yeah, but what about the weather compared to February/March?
