A l'aube d'un grand voyage, je réfléchis sur la meilleure manière de mettre mon récit en ligne régulièrement sur un site internet dédié.
Le constat que j'ai fait sur beaucoup de sites type blog c'est que c'est sympa quand on suit au jour le jour la progression des voyageurs pendant leur périple mais il y a 2 très gros problèmes :
- dès que le visiteur loupe quelques billets ça devient galère à lire et on a tendance à lire à l'envers (du plus récent au plus ancien jusqu'à retomber sur le dernier post qu'on avait lu (on ne se souvient pas forcément exactement de la date de son dernier passage sur le site)
- une fois le voyage fini avoir un récit tout à l'envers c'est stupide.
Du coup je suis curieux de savoir quelles solutions vous préférez, comment vous gérez ça...

Par expérience, nous voyageons depuis le 10.10.07 en continu 12 pays d'Asie visité mais avons déjà voyagé avant à raison de 4 mois par an, actuellement 51 pays visité. Pour les blogs et bien ne vous cassez pas la tête à écrire des tartines, peu de personne les lisent. Seuls les gens qui voyagent s'y intéresse et même la propre famille a autre chose à faire que de lire nos aventures. Donc depuis 1980, les voyages sont écrits jour après jour. Au départ sur des calepins, mais depuis les ordinateur, c'est plus pratique et c'est mon travaille d'écrire chaque jour, des fois avec un peu de retard, le journal de bord. Avec le pays, la ville, l'hôtel et le prix, les sites visités, les anexdotes. C'est hyper utile pour les voyageurs que l'on rencontre dans notre périple car 7 mois en Malaisie, 13 mois et 20 îles en Indonésie, etc etc. Actuellement depuis le 15 juin en Chine avec 3 semaines de Tibet. Nous avons eu un visa multiple entrées pour 2 ans avec séjour de 180 jours.
Nous venons de faire une croisière magnifique sur le Yantze, les 3 gorges et sur un bateau 5* pour pas cher du tout. Mais voilà les non voyageurs ne s'y intéressent pas du tout. Les photos c'est pareil alors un bon conseil, faite vos voyages pour vous ainsi que les notes et à la demande, vous pouvez les donner. Ou les écrire sur voyageforum, comme j'essaye de faire pour les tuyaux sur la croisière pas cher des 3 gorges, mais là je ne sais pas où cliquer pour donner ces infos. Alors si vous pouvez m'écrire la marche à suivre car sur cette croisière il n'y a rien du tout sur le site voyageforum.
Un grand merci à vous et profitez de vos voyage avec les voyageurs. On a beaucoup plus d'affinités avec les voyageurs qu'avec nos propres familles et amis, c'est une pure réalité que j'ai eu le malheur d'écrire sur mon blog et c'est la seule fois où j'ai eu des messages en retour. Je suis du même avis : je trouve le système de lecture "à l'envers" des blogs assez agaçant car quand on découvre un site on est obligés de dérouler toutes les pages jusqu'au début pour lire dans le bon ordre. Sans compter que si la personne publie plusieurs billets d'un coup on est aussi obligé de chercher le début 🤪
C'est une des raisons qui m'a poussée à faire un site plutôt qu'à utiliser un blog tout prêt : tu peux choisir la mise en page que tu souhaites adopter et la présentation de tes articles. Pour le mien j'ai utilisé SPIP (www.spip.net) assez facile à utiliser avec un minimum de connaissances en informatique et en sites internet. Mon choix a été de faire un chapitre par pays, ce qui permet au lecteur de se rendre directement à celui qui l'intéresse. Pour chaque pays on accède à un sommaire avec tous les articles (le plus récent d'abord mais il est facile de commencer par le premier). J'ai aussi mis en valeur sur la page d'accueil les 4 derniers articles publiés pour permettre aux visiteurs réguliers d'avoir tout de suite les nouveautés.
C'est de toute manière un travail assez lourd et prenant d'écrire chaque jour et de mettre en ligne tes récits mais personnellement je ne regrette pas une seconde. Rétrospectivement cela me permet de garder un souvenir beaucoup plus précis de certains endroits ou anecdotes, donc cela valait le coup !

Notre tour du monde d'un an d'août 2006 à août 2007 :
un site...pas un blog, c'est beaucoup plus "personalisable", tu choisis tout. Un conseil, fais attention à la structure, il faut que l'on puisse trouver facilement ce que l'on veut.
Je ne prétends pas que le nôtre soit un bon site, mais je te donne son adresse, car il peut te donner une idée du style de présentation que tu peux avoir et que tu n'auras jamais avec un blog.
c'est du travail, mais on ne le regrette généralement pas. bonnes investigations !!

Je pense que je vais m'orienter vers quelque chose de mixte :
- blog pour parler un peu des préparatifs et autres trucs qui n'ont pas trop d'importance au niveau de l'ordre. Ca permet d'ajouter régulièrement du contenu très simplement
- pages statiques (articles dans Wordpress) pour les parties "fixes" : trajet, contact... le fait d'utiliser ce système me permet de les modifier simplement via le web si besoin.
- un petit développement perso pour la partie récit.
J'imaginais notamment la chose suivante :
faire un script (php) qui lirait le contenu d'un dossier (répertoire), et considérerait que tout sous-dossier serait une partie. Je nommerai éventuellement les dossiers "01-france", "02-maroc" ... pour qu'ils soient par ordre alphabétique et chronologique en même temps.
Ensuite dans chaque dossier des fichiers html + des images. Là encore on peut imaginer que le script prenne les pages html par ordre alphabétique.
L'idée derrière tout ça serait de pouvoir faire des pages html très basiques totalement offline, genre sur mon netbook sous la tente et ensuite un simple upload dans un dossier qui va bien une fois que j'ai une connexion wifi et hop ça m'intègre mes rubriques/pages automatiquement dans la structure du site et génère une navigation adaptée (par exemple avoir un lien "passer à la page 2" en bas de la page 1 ou passer à la page 1 de la rubrique "02-maroc" à la fin de la page 4 "01-france".
Que pensez-vous de l'idée ?
Après au delà de la technique j'avoue que j'hésite encore sur la manière de faire le récit. Jusqu'à présent je suis parti sur des périodes courtes donc il était facile de faire 1 page par jour, et du coup une séparation précise chaque jour (avec infos sur les km effectués par ex).
Maintenant sur un périple d'un an par exemple ça se complexifie et ça risque de faire un récit monstrueusement long (mais précis). Pour le côté "partage" avec la famille et les amis c'est peut-être un peu lourdingue et probablement même pour moi.
Quand je lis des livres qui sont des récits d'aventures, par exemple un livre de Sylvain Tesson, on voit qu'il fait beaucoup abstraction de la notion de temps qui passe. Il zappe totalement le nombre de km effectués (hormis un petit total de temps en temps), et supprime aussi une bonne parties des "répétitions" d'un tel voyage : petit dej, bivouac, ... pour ne se focaliser que sur les rencontres, les échanges, le paysage ... vous en pensez quoi ?

Et totalement hors sujet : vous en pensez-quoi de votre Panasonic GF1 à l'usage ? vous vous servez uniquement du 20mm ou utilisez beaucoup d'autres objectifs ? Je suis un peu surpris par les vidéos (1080p + zoom de malade, c'est fait avec un caméscope ou avec le GF1
Ce que vous envisagez - un mixte entre ce dont l'ordre vous indiffère et quelque chose de plus statique - est tout à fait faisable sur la plateforme Wordpress, c'est-à-dire en utilisant leur outil de blog (.com et pas .org) sans nécessité d'une quelconque compétence en informatique (html, php, ....) .

Pas la peine de nommer ainsi vos dossiers : vous pouvez ordonner vos pages (des "pages", pas des "articles") comme bon vous semble.
Essayez, prenez l'outil en main, il est possible que cela corresponde à ce que vous attendez.
Je connais pas mal wordpress que j'utilise pour divers besoins mais le plus gros point noir que j'y vois (d'où mon idée de scripts php/bidouilles) c'est la difficulté de travailler offline, aussi bien pour écrire que pour préparer et intégrer les photos.
Une approche pourrait être d'avoir 2 wordpress : un offline qui tournerait sur un petit serveur sur mon netbook (wamp ou easyphp) et un autre en ligne pour travailler offline et ensuite exporter/réimporter la base + uploader toutes les images.
J'ai un peu peur que ça soit lourd (passer par phpmyadmin, n'importer que les tables liées au articles (pour ne pas écraser les commentaires par exemple) et pour l'upload des images pour retrouver lesquelles uploader ça risque de se solder par l'upload/écrasement de tout à chaque fois (ça prend du temps).
Peut-être qu'il existerait une petite application spéciale pour créer de nouveaux articles/contenus offline et les synchroniser ensuite mais pour l'instant je n'ai rien trouvé :(
Mais pour vos textes, un simple fichier texte (.doc ou .odt), que vous créez ( opération "offline", donc, ce qui nécessiterait de toute façon un PC sous la main) et enregistrez sur une clé USB, ou dans le "presse-minute" de Wordpress, puis collez simplement, ne suffirait-il pas ?
Idem pour le transfert de vos photos (si vous ne les retouchez pas) ? Vous allez les visualiser pour sélectionner celles que vous mettrez en ligne, quoi qu'il en soit.
À vous de voir.... C'est sûr qu'un vrai site, le résultat sera plus satisfaisant, si vous maîtrisez l'outillage informatique nécessaire, et que vous avez /voulez prendre le temps de faire cela...
(Ce n'est pas de la pub pour Wordpress, je pense que les autres plate-formes proposent sensiblement la même chose...)
Franchement, testez et choisissez ce qui vous paraît le plus confortable et surtout acceptable en voyage, selon vos critères.....
Rien ne vous empêche, au retour, de tout refonder, une fois que vous vous sentirez plus disponible pour....🙂

entièrement d'accord, personnellement, je prépare les textes en .doc, je dimensionne les photos sur un petit eepc, basique de chez basique, puis hop, par la wifi quand il y en a ou par une clef usb, je balance le tout sur le site. j ai fait l'expérience d'un long voyage en vélo sans pc avec moi, mises à jour uniquement au cyber, c'était galère

I just discovered a great show on Arte.
It's called "7 en route": seven young European journalists travel around Europe in a fully converted bus, making reports on every city they visit. It's amazing! 🙂
Yesterday, for example, they were in Rome, Italy, and the reports included things like the world's smallest restaurant—a super romantic spot for two. There was also a report on the king of paparazzi in Italy.
They have to pick topics that let us discover the little quirks of each country. And at the end of each episode, we get to see the finished report.
It's such a great show, mixing journalism, travel, and discovery—basically, a must-watch!

After a quarter without dragging my slippers around here, even though I’d loudly declared I had no interest left in this site, here I am again!
My imagination never stays fallow for long. Just enough time for my inner land to rest. It gets overgrown with fresh nettles, the kind you can pick without getting stung. Then, it’s time to till the fragrant earth and let the story grow.
I hesitated over where to set this story.
Maybe the Highlands, maybe the Hebrides, maybe the Orkney Islands, maybe the Shetland Islands. All of Scotland is myth—easy to embroider.
But in the end, no. I’d almost be too afraid to bare my soul.
The story will take place at home. Simple, practical.

This morning, I was up well before dawn, feeling a bit grumpy, but nothing a bowl of coffee won’t fix. I love my bowl, and no one dares take it. It’s porcelain, edged with intertwined blue flowers. On the bottom, it says "Revol." The factory has existed long before the Revolution. It was my great-grandmother’s bowl. She drank roasted barley from it during the war, then her Leroux chicory.
Last year, a little guy dropped it. My bowl broke into three pieces. A black anger vibrated deep inside me. The little boy was so upset, on the verge of tears. How could I scold him!
I picked up the three pieces and took Little Boy in my arms. His hair smelled of the light, sweet sweat of toddlers. A gentle hug that healed—his budding sorrow and my anger—everything vanished, and time carried on.
Today, my bowl is even prettier. Man fixed it using the traditional kintsugi technique, except he didn’t use gold powder or lacquer but superglue, and he delicately painted the cracks with woad blue. And my bowl is even more beautiful now.
I’m lingering, I can tell—it’s just that a story wraps itself in life, and life can’t be told in the snap of a finger. Life is long. Like in architecture, you start with a rough sketch, called a "sous-cul" (the initial pencil drawing), then you make a tracing, which is the work itself, the one you later carefully roll up in a wooden tube.
Life is like that: you erase, you start over, you use the nub of the pencil until it’s tiny, but you keep going—dreaming, loving.

On this forum, we talk a lot about trekking in the Himalayas, but I’d love to share another side of Nepal: its spiritual, cultural, and religious atmosphere, especially in Kathmandu.
Nepal, much like Tibet and Bhutan, is deeply connected to the Himalayas—the ultimate sacred mountain range. This small country exudes a calming vibe, shaped by a strong spiritual dimension. What I loved most was the unique sensory experience you get there. Walking around temples and tantric monasteries, a distinct scent fills the air—aromatic plants used for ritual fumigation. Locals mainly burn Himalayan juniper, cedar, sandalwood, and other local essences. This fragrant smoke is a way to purify the space and reach the deities, and you’re constantly enveloped in these aromas.
Another striking aspect is the sound. As soon as you step outside, you hear bells ringing in front of temples. People ring them three times before praying to announce their presence to the deities. Nepal is also the birthplace of singing bowls and sound meditation practices. In Kathmandu, you can easily find meditation sessions or "sound baths."
The spiritual dimension is everywhere: a Hindu sadhu practicing asceticism, a lama in deep red robes with his mala, turning a prayer wheel while murmuring "Om mani padme hum." Newar Buddhism, Tantrism, and Hinduism coexist harmoniously in daily life.

I’m planning a 3-week trip to Japan in May with Voyage Privé. The package includes a 5 GB eSIM, but my phone isn’t new enough to support it. VP told me I could buy a SIM card when I arrive at the airport.
Sure enough, I’ve seen online that this is possible with different providers.
I only need it for checking routes, looking up addresses, train schedules, etc.—basically using Google Maps, TripAdvisor, and similar apps. No heavy downloads or major internet use. All hotels should provide free Wi-Fi for that, right?
Has anyone got any tips for me on this? What have you tried, and how much did it cost?

I wanted to share a really unpleasant experience from our last trip booked with Promoséjours and organized by FTI.
We booked an 8-day/7-night stay in Egypt, from June 8 to 15.
The flight initially scheduled was changed a week before departure to take off at 10 PM from Paris CDG.
In the end, it took off with a 1-hour delay and included an unmentioned stopover in Marsa Alam.
We landed in Hurghada at 4 AM and arrived at the hotel at 6 AM.
So, we spent our first night on the plane.
For the return trip, surprise—the flight was moved up. We left the hotel at 10:30 PM on Friday the 14th to take off at 2 AM and land at 7 AM at Paris CDG.
So, we spent our last night on the plane too.
After sending a complaint letter to Promoséjours / FTI, they replied that the first and last days can be dedicated to transport (which I already knew) and that no matter how many nights you book, you’re not guaranteed to spend them in the hotel—it could just as well be on the plane.
I’m really questioning this.
Isn’t there a law that protects customers in cases like this?
Because when I do the math, the first and part of the second day were spent on transport, same for the second-to-last and last day. And I paid for 7 nights for a stay that only lasted 5.
Anyway, I just want to say thanks to them—thanks to their two sleepless nights in transit, I’m coming back even more exhausted from a trip that was supposed to be restful!
I also want to warn anyone booking through this agency about visas for Egypt.
At booking, they told me the visa was included in the price, then they sent me an email saying I’d have to pay for it on-site at 25 €.
Once there, we were directed to a special line for FTI customers, and guess what? They charged us 30 €!
Basically, they’re great at making sure you *enjoy* your vacation—mostly by enjoying your wallet!
If anyone has dealt with this kind of situation and won their case, I’m all ears.

Here’s my question: will this SIM affect my apps? Or will they work the same as with my Orange SIM?
Is there any setup I need to do, or can I just pop in the Thai SIM?
I’d also like to switch back to my Orange SIM now and then while I’m in Thailand—on the same phone. Will I need to reset the phone, or will it reconnect without any issues?

I’m reaching out to all travelers and globe-trotters on this forum. I’m a teacher in Creuse working in a ULIS program (which welcomes children aged 6 to 12 with disabilities into a mainstream school). This year, I’m launching a school journal project that will involve the kids in many different topics. A big part of this journal will focus on opening up to the world, embracing differences, travel, global cultures, and more.
I’m putting out a call to invite as many of you as possible to send us a postcard (from France or anywhere in the world)! The goal is to help us "travel" and discover new places, countries, and horizons in a way that’s much more fun and exciting than a geography textbook. One section of our journal could be called "We received a letter from ," where we’d research the location and share what we learn with our readers—a really enriching activity for the classroom.
The project starts in September 2025 but doesn’t have a strict end date, since this journal and world-discovery initiative will span several school years (the kids stay in the ULIS program for multiple years). Postcards can be sent anytime—throughout the year, across seasons, even during holidays! The kids will find them when they return.
I hope this idea appeals to as many of you as possible, and that you’ll spread the word to your fellow travelers. Help us dream and explore!

Where’s Cape Vidal?
It’s in iSimangaliso, an independent park in KZN Wildlife, stunning and just a stone’s throw from St Lucia (KwaZulu-Natal, Maputaland).
It’s the beach spot at the end of the Eastern Shores road. You can swim, fish... but watch out for waves, currents, and sharks...
There’s a really nice game drive where you can get out of your car at certain points, especially at Cape Vidal.
That’s where the camp with bungalows and campsites is.
The vervets and samango monkeys (endemic to the area, and the males are pretty big) can be a bit of a nuisance if you’re trying to braai...
They’re super persistent and not shy at all—don’t let them intimidate you, and stay alert because their speed at snatching food is impressive.
Anyway...
I’m reporting two recent attacks by these hyenas... who were *not* in a playful mood...
The first one happened at night—a hyena tried to bite a camper’s nose off in their tent... and succeeded.
The other night, a camper returning to their tent in the early hours was violently attacked by two hyenas... and they had a close call!
So, if you’re camping there, be careful...
Measures are being taken, but for now, it’s a bit risky.
