Je n'ai jamais vu que le traitement préventif du paludisme était remboursé par la caisse de SS.
Par contre les traitements curatifs en cas de paludisme, dit "d'importation" observé en métropole, sont bien entendus remboursés.

J'en ai pris, ainsi que toute ma petite famille, pendant l'année que nous avons passée en Sierra Leone. Aucun de nous n'a ressenti d'effets secondaires. Nous n'avons pas non plus fait de crise de palu. Mais ce n'est pas une garantie d'efficacité ! Juste une expérience vécue.

Une partie seulement a été remboursée par notre caisse de Sécu française (un quart ? un tiers ? je ne sais plus exactement, à peu près l'équivalent d'une année/personne). Pour le reste, comme nous partions en mission humanitaire, nous dépendions de la CFE (Caisse des Français de l'Etranger) qui rembourse (associée à une mutuelle) non seulement la prophylaxie palu mais aussi tous les vaccins nécessaires, même ceux qui ne sont pas remboursés par la Sécu française (rage, hépatites, typhoïde, méningites...)
Je n'avais pas apporté toutes ces précisions dans mon précédent message, car en voyage il est rarissime que les gens restent une année complète en zone impaludée.
Avant d'accuser les gens de fraude, renseigne-toi !

Je fais également des missions médicales (officielles et dans le cas de partenariat entre hopitaux), je paie mes traitements, et je trouve cela juste, une implication financière personnelle ne me choque pas pour de "l'humanitaire", je déteste en effet "l'humanitaire vacance" (attention ne vous sentez pas attaqué) 😛.
D'autre part pour un voyage de un an la prise d'un traitement anti palu peut se discuter !! Un an de Doxycycline, bonjour les effets secondaires ?? Personnellement, encore, lorsque la zone (et la saison) est peu impaludée je préfère une protection soigneuse anti moustique, en ayant ce qu'il faut pour mettre rapidement en route un traitement curatif. (la recherche du palu par "goutte épaisse" est facilement disponible en Afrique). 🤪

Notre situation est en effet très particulière à cause de la durée de nos séjours en zone impaludée, mais si les forumeurs qui partent en voyage se font prescrire de la doxycycline par leur médecin, pourquoi ne seraient-ils pas remboursés ?

La prise de prophylaxie sur une longue durée a toujours fait et fera toujours débat. Loin de moi l'idée de donner des conseils à ce sujet. Nous avions une prescription de l'institut Pasteur pour toute la durée du séjour, mais si nous avions ressenti des effets secondaires, nous aurions arrêté la prise. Certes, certains effets secondaires ne sont pas ressentis directement et ne se révèlent qu'après. Il y a donc clairement un risque. Sans parler des problèmes de résistance qui peuvent apparaître... Encore un autre débat.
En ce qui concerne la protection anti moustique, elle est elle-aussi difficilement acceptable sur le long terme. Dormir sous une moustiquaire est chose facile (à condition d'emmener la sienne, car dans les villages, en général il n'y en a pas). Revêtir pantalon, chaussettes et manches longues dès la fin de l'après-midi : pendant quelques semaines, l'astreinte peut être supportable. Après, c'est difficile. Surtout quand on travaille jusqu'après la tombée de la nuit ! Les spirales anti moustiques, elles, se trouvent partout et sont faciles d'utilisation, mais elles n'éloignent pas toujours les moustiques. Quant à se mettre du repellent, à la longue cela provoque (chez nous) des problèmes de peau.
Ma conviction, en tout cas, après plusieurs années de séjour cumulées dans des zones infestées de moustiques, est qu'il est impossible d'éviter toutes les piqûres. Alors oui, on trouve facilement à faire faire une goutte épaisse (dans les villes). Mais on est aussi souvent confronté à des cas de palu mortels. Tu le sais sûrement beaucoup mieux que moi !
Dans ces conditions, chacun essaie de trouver sa stratégie...

Il suffit pour vous d'aller sur le site de la sécurité sociale, mais j'ai quelques doutes pour le remboursement, bien que maintenant, on peut s'attendre à tout avec la sécurité sociale dans les prises en charge.......

We're about to go on an organized trip to South Africa, including Kruger Park. We were told that Malarone should preferably be taken in the evening at the same time during a meal. But it's hard to know what time we'll have dinner, especially since I've read that in South Africa, dinner is usually around 6 PM.
I'd love to hear from people who've been on organized trips to this destination and could share their experience. We were thinking of taking Malarone around 7:30 PM, assuming dinner would be closer to 7 PM than 6 PM. Also, if the meal ends up being earlier or later than when we take the pill, would a cookie or a piece of bread be enough to take with Malarone?
I’m planning to set off on a "round-the-world" trip/long journey at the start of next year, lasting between 4.5 and 6 months. For now, the itinerary looks like this: South Korea (2 weeks) -> Japan (1 month) -> New Zealand (1 month) -> Argentina (1 month) -> United States (1 month).
I’m on medication (paroxetine 20 mg/day) and was hoping to bring enough for the entire trip so I wouldn’t have to find a doctor on the spot, deal with a molecule that might be slightly different from what’s available in France, or wonder if that’s even a possibility. Basically, it seemed simpler on paper...
But after looking into the regulations for each country, it’s suddenly way less simple . Many seem to only allow the amount corresponding to the length of your "stay" in the country... Which is a problem if I arrive in Korea with 4.5 months’ worth of medication, for example.

Generally, I understand it’s possible to travel with approved medications (which should be my case), but often with a limit of 3 months’ worth of treatment.
Since I’m going for 12 months, that means for three-quarters of my trip, I’d have more than 3 months’ worth of medication.
