salut a tous
voila sa fait plusieurs mois que je prepare un nouveau periple
en 2007 je suis parti faire un tour du monde a velo a seulement 18 ans et tout seul sans aucune assistance
j`ai fini mon periple apres plus de 34000 kilometres de velo a travers 51 pays
cela fait maintenant presque 2 ans que je suis revenu et j`ai assez economiser pour refaire un nouveau projet
je pourrai refaire une nouvelle fois un voyage a velo mais refaire 2 fois la meme chose c`est pas trop mon truc
du coup apres avoir etudier plusieurs itineraire et moyen de locomotion je me suis tournez vers la mobylette
pour plusieurs raisons
1 - cela ressemble beaucoup au voyage en velo car on prend son temps en profitant du paysage et l`on ressent 100 fois plus de chose qu`en voiture ou moto a 130 km/h ( je dis cela car je reviens des usa ou j`ai louer une voiture et je suis passer par les memes route que j`avais faites en velo mais rien n`etait pareil le bitume defiler a toute allure vraiment incomparable avec le velo) en plus cela fait sourire les gens alors que de se pointez avec une 1200cc c`est trop banal
2- gros avantage par rapport a une moto
j`ai regarder combien ca coute d`envoyer une moto de france jusqu`au usa et les prix le moins cher est de 1800 $ c`est hors de prix !!
avec une mob de 50 kilos on peut la demonter completement et l`envoyer par colis ( 2 ou 3 colis de 20 kilos )
cela revient a moins de 200 euros
de plus les problemes mecanique sont bien plus simple a reparer que sur une grosse cylindree
et l`investissement a l`achat est bien moindre ( je viens de me trouver ma monture pour moins de 200 euros sur ebay une mob toute neuve ! )
autres avantage c`est que dans les pays que je souhaite traverser avec une mob pas besoin de carnet de passage en douane donc moins de souci en plus une mob consomme 3 fois rien et vu le prix du carburant c`est un budget minime
3 - l`amerique du sud
au debut j`etait parti sur l`idee d`un tour du monde complet mais depuis 3 mois je m`informe de partout
et cela pose trop de problemes
trop cher en visas ( + 900 euros ) et il est interdit de circuler avec un vehicule pour un etranger dans pas mal de pays
+ carnet de passage en douane obligatoire meme pour une mob
du coup l`amerique me semble l`endroit rever pas de visas et bien plus simple pour nous francais
les paysages americains ( nord et sud ) sont sublime et il y a largement de quoi faire
4 projet
l`idee serait de partir soit d`argentine ou soit de guyane ( a voir )
pour remonter jusqu`en alaska en prenant bien le temps de traverser les etats unis et le canada ( beaucoup de parc nationaux )
la duree peut varier de 8 mois a plusieurs annees j`ai pas encore decider
la longueur du parcours serait d`environ 20000 a 30000 kilometre ce qui n`est pas enorme pour une mob
( je vois souvent des mob sur leboncoin avec 25000 kilometre au compteur encore en bon etat )
je recherche donc des personne interesser par mon projet et surtout motivees et serieuse ( enfin pas trop quand meme ! )
si vous avez des notions en mecanique sa serait top !!
vous pourrez comptez sur ma grande experience d`aventurier malgres mon jeune age
car je peut vous dire que j`en ai vecu des situation pas facile a 18 ans sur mon velo en pleine campagne au salvador par exemple ou encore en roumanie pourchasser par des gitans avec des fourches lol c`est vrai en plus !!
j`ai adorer mon voyage a velo mais mon seul regret a ete de ne pas partager tout ces bons moment avec des potes
en plus a part mon ami stone ( mon fidele baladeur mp3 ! je me sentait un peu seul durant toute cette route )
j`etudie toute propositions si vous souhaitez savoir combien de budget cela necessite je peut vous en faire un tres precis
on peut voyager avec tout les budgets ( durant mes 6 mois en amerique du sud j`ai depenser moins de 200 euros par mois en dormant presque tout les soir dans un lit et en mangeant convenablement donc arretez de vous mettre dans la tete qu`un tel voyage est innacessible )
un exemple en avril je suis parti avec mon petit frere et mon pere pour leur faire decouvrir aussi les etats unis
et bien on est rester 3 semaines entre la location voiture les billet d`avion bouffe et loisir au final j`ai presque depenser plus en 3 semaine de tourisme que lors de mes 15 mois en velo !!

Je trouve l'idée originale et elle mérite d'être creusée. Je ne sais pas si ta mobylette va tenir sur un long trajet. Entre les pointes de bougie et l'usure dans certaines régions, tu risques de passer pas mal de temps à faire de la mécanique. Pareil, il faudra prévoir pas mal de bidons car les risque de panne d'essence assez sauvent aussi ;)
Sinon, je pense qu'une aventure comme ça, il faut prévoir un appareil photo et en faire un livre. Vu l'originalité, ça serait top ! :)

quel modèle et quelle marque pout ton cyclomoteur: Peugeot? Motobécane (ou MBK)?...

vous devez le connaitre il s`agit de benoit qui a parcouru plus de 33000 kilometre en amerique du nord sur sa mob
il m`a donner pas mal de bon conseil pour ce periple
et on peut lui faire confiance lui aussi a enormement d`experience !
pour la mob je viens de m`acheter une piaggio ciao mix ( pas besoin de faire de melange huile essence )
ce sont des mob tres simple en mecanique et tres legere ( - de 45 kilos ) donc bien maniable
je compte ajouter des optimisation comme par exemple un variateur car le moteur origine est fixe donc pas top pour les montees et des modifs esthetiques pour le fun
c`est sur que lorsque l`on voyage en moto comme toi jef on a pas trop envie de passer d`une 650 cc a une " vulgaire " 50 cc
mais c`est avant tout une question de moyen entre l`achat d`une grosse moto le cout des transport en avion et de l`entretien
il faut avoir une certain aise financiere et a 21 ans pour moi ce n`est pas vraiment le cas 😕
au pire si personne ne veut venir je repartirai tout seul comme en 2007 mais j`ai pas trop envie enfaite 😉

Mon idée était d'arriver à Buenos Aires, de descendre en Patagonie et de remonter jusqu'au Mexique. J'aimerai aussi prendre le temps de faire des belles pauses pour, par exemple, bosser dans des associations ou faire du wwoofing, ce qui me semble etre une bonne façon de découvrir la culture. Si je me fais ça en deux roues avec des partenaires, il me semble bien de se prendre des petites périodes ou on se sépare pour ce genre d'activités ou pour faire un bout de route solo pour ne pas saturer!
Voila toute mon idée, mais tout est discutable avec les personnes qui partent m'accompagner!

Je pense à faire quelques chose de similaire mais sur une distance plus courte (apres être remonté du bresil jusqu'en Colombie en bus) j'aimerais faire Panama/Mexique en mob/moto

J'ai pu constater que les prix de certains camping étaient exorbitants.
Si vous avez parcouru les dolomites en motos ou autres et que vous avez campé, je suis preneur de tout renseignements sur les lieux et prix où je puisse me poser pour une nuit ou plusieurs.

I just realized I’ve been registered on VoyageForum since... March 28, 2012 😊. Yet, I’ve barely participated until now.
August 1, 2026, will mark a somewhat special milestone: 5 years on the road.
We left Switzerland on August 1, 2021 with a simple idea: let chance decide our direction. We placed a bottle of wine on a world map, spun it... and it chose our first destination.
A year later, when we arrived in Morocco, we faced a new choice: continue toward Africa or head to Asia. This time, a tarot card game made the decision. Since then, we’ve tried to keep this journey as open to the unexpected as possible.
Today, that adds up to about 120,000 km, 46 countries, and over 1,800 days on the road—mostly by motorcycle, but also by sailboat, train, bus, hitchhiking, or on foot when adventure calls.
Our guiding thread isn’t just the motorcycle, but service exchanges. Instead of simply passing through countries, we try to stop regularly to lend a hand to the people we meet. So far, that’s about 600 days of volunteering.
Over the years, we’ve:
renovated a house in Croatia
made earth bricks in the Moroccan desert
helped sail a boat through the Greek islands
looked after houses, dogs, horses, a camel... and lots of other animals
worked at a street art festival in Morocco
created videos for local associations and projects
worked the grape harvest on the Tibetan plateau
been accredited as "media" for the World Nomad Games in Central Asia
Some of the moments that have stuck with us the most include six months in China, a night spent on the Great Wall, the Pamir Highway, the Silk Road, three months in Taiwan, and the incredible encounters in the mountains of Central Asia.
We travel on Falkor, our lucky dragon—a 2014 BMW F800GS that’s been with us since the start and is starting to have some great stories of its own.
While we share our adventure on Instagram, Polarsteps, and YouTube, that’s not why we’re here. The forum’s rules about promotion are clear, and I totally get them. If I’m finally taking the time to write, it’s mostly because after five years on the road, I thought our experience might be useful to other travelers.

I’m planning a motorcycle road trip to Armenia and Georgia in September 2026 or May 2027. I’m looking for one or more riders (male or female) who’d like to explore these countries with me.
Along the way, we’ll visit Cappadocia, the capitals Yerevan, Tbilisi, Sofia, Skopje, and other cities—we can finalize the route and roadbook later.
This trip requires experience with long motorcycle journeys, as we’ll cover around 7,000 km over 5 or 6 weeks (or more, depending on sightseeing and time spent).
I don’t expect dozens of applicants, since motorcycle riders are few and far between on this forum, but I’m putting this out there anyway.
I’m starting to think about a trip that’s really close to my heart: Algeria by motorcycle, specifically the southern part of the country. It’d be for January 2025, and I’ve got two main questions:
Is it possible for an individual on a motorcycle to travel freely, outside of any organized tour, or does the regulation require some kind of supervision in the Algerian Sahara region?
Is the Hoggar massif accessible by road or by (rideable) tracks?
Beyond the official recommendations, I’m really looking for your firsthand experiences.

Why not explore the Peloponnese!
I’m not particularly drawn to museums, ruins, or monuments.
I want to experience local life—small villages, seaside spots, beaches, and the interior if the landscapes are extraordinary.
Ideally, coming from Athens, I’d take a bus or train to get as close as possible to a starting point, then rent a scooter (125cc) to explore by taking secondary roads or even coastal paths. I’d stay in 2-3 places for a few days each to discover their surroundings.

What do you think would be the ideal itinerary?
From Athens, the best option would be to take either a flight or a bus to Kalamata. Rent a scooter and head either west or east. Is there a tertiary road (very lightly trafficked) or a path where I can ride slowly, take it easy, and enjoy the scenery without being bothered by traffic? I’d like to go all the way to Monemvasia, still hugging the coast. I need to find a way to avoid returning to Kalamata to drop off the scooter and catch a flight—maybe a small town where the train stops so I can head back to Athens.

How do you get visas for the countries I’ll be crossing: Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, and Chile? Are they e-Visas, obtained at the border, or through embassies?
Where can I get vehicle insurance?

I’ve got 15 days off in June and I’m pretty undecided about where to go for a motorcycle road trip. Two strong desires are pulling me in different directions: Corsica or Norway.
Corsica has been a dream of mine for a long time: legendary roads, stunning landscapes, a unique vibe, and the perfect mix of sea and mountains. At the same time, I’m wondering if 2 weeks might be *too much* for Corsica—risking feeling like I’ve seen it all too quickly, especially on a bike.
Since I also have an extra week free in May, I could use that specifically for Corsica. Maybe splitting it into two trips would make more sense? If so, which routes or regions would be the most interesting to plan for a 7-day trip?
On the other hand, Norway is *super* appealing. The landscapes look incredible, totally different from anything I’ve experienced, and it’d be a real “wow” trip. I know 15 days is still short for such a vast country. Getting all the way to the North Cape seems pretty much impossible in that time, but I’m curious about what realistic routes could be planned.
So I’m wondering:
Is it better to save Norway for next year, take 3 weeks off, and do it *properly*?
Or are 15 days enough for a first amazing taste of the country?
I’d love to hear about your experiences—whether it’s Corsica (ideal duration, routes) or Norway (what’s realistic in 2 weeks on a bike).

Hello! We’re planning a motorcycle trip that will include a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau in June 2026.
We’re unsure (still debating) whether we should stay at a hotel on-site and get to the memorial with an Uber (leaving our bikes at the hotel) and book a guided tour, or base ourselves in Kraków and take a tour that includes transport.
One thing’s for sure—we’d prefer a guide in French since we don’t speak English 😅.

Unfortunately, I’m worried that parts of the N630 may have disappeared or merged with the A66 motorway, forcing us to ride long stretches of highway, which we’d rather avoid.

This is our first motorcycle trip in Morocco. I got my license two years ago with the dream of taking this kind of trip, and here we are! ✌️😍
In France, we usually ride between 300 to 400 km per day on roadsters. We’re not used to off-road tracks, so we’re looking for easy ones 😅—especially for me 😅.
For Morocco, I’ve planned stages of 200 to 300 km per day.
