bonjour tous le monde! je m apprete a partir pour hurghada lundi prochain! je pars de nantes a 9h30 et j arrive a louxor a 16 h55 !!! ca fai un sacré long trajet 😕!!surtout que mon hotel se situe a hurghada!! j ai donc apelé mon TO et il ma dit que l on fesait une escale a louxor hors ce n etait pas prevu mai bon!!! la compagnie dans laquel je vai voyager est KORAL BLUE !! kelkun en a t il deja entendu parler??savez vous si pour me rendre a hurghada je devrai prendre un autre avion ou si tous le trajet se fera av le meme avion??? j atten vos reponses je suis plutot angoissé a l ideé de passer plu de 7 h dans l avion!!! merci

Dans l'ensemble sur le site de marmara , il figure de très bonnes critiques seulement je doute que le site de marmara soit fiable . J'ai également effectué ma recherche sur trip advisor sur lequel il y a également de bonnes critiques mais personne ne parle de marmara

Ci-dessous notre retour d'expérience sur notre séjour d'une semaine au club Marmara d'Hurghada du 14 au 21 mars 2009
1) Hôtel Comme indiqué dans les descriptifs, l'hôtel est situé en U face à la mer (et donc au soleil la majeure partie de la journée). Le bâtiment A est sur la droite quand vous êtes face à la mer, B sur la gauche. Je recommande les chambres B impaires et commençant par 2 ou plus : car avec 1 comme premier chiffre = Rez de chaussée (valable dans les deux batiments) pour que votre balcon soit côté piscine (impair) et au soleil (B). En effet, le bâtiment A est à l'ombre la majeure partie de la journée et les chambre de B paires sont côté opposé à la piscine, votre chambre donne sur le mur d'enceinte, donc moins de charme, mais aussi plus calme. Pour A c'est l'inverse (pair = piscine, impair = mur)
L'hôtel en général est agréable et fonctionnel, les chambres sont très convenables. Il n'y a rien à redire niveau entretien et propreté, du personnel dédié à cela nettoyant en permanence.
2) Personnel et animation le staff est discret, efficace et agréable dans l'ensemble l'équipe d'animation fait beaucoup de bruit (enfin surtout leur sono), mais c'est ce qu'on leur demande et cela constitue le concept de l'hôtel club. Les soirées ne sont pas terribles : nous avons tenté deux fois, la première n'était toujours pas commencée 40 minutes après l'heure prévue (visiblement le soir d'avant c'était pareil), la seconde (café théâtre) ne brillait vraiment pas par la qualité et la finesse des sketchs...mais bon les soirées n'étaient pas vraiment un critère important dans notre cas
3) Restaurants et nourriture Standard pour ce genre de concept all inclusive, c'est à dire buffet de qualité honnête mais sans plus, avec un manque de variété même si l'hôtel fait des efforts avec repas à thème tous les soirs (y compris décoration des tables et tenue des serveurs) Nous n'avons pas testé le restaurant de poissons en bord de mer (12 € le diner)
4) Excursions et services annexes visa: Marmara vous le facture d'office 33 €, en arrivant à l'aéroport d'Hurghada vous faites la queue au stand Marmara pour le récupérer, avant de la refaire à l'immigration égyptienne. Et là vous vous apercevez, soit en le lisant sur le visa que Marmara a collé sur votre passeport, soit en regardant les panneaux au dessus des guichets ou vous auriez pu acheter directement votre visa (et où dans notre cas la queue était inexistante, autrement dit récupérer le visa avec Marmara ne fait pas gagner de temps) que l'état Egyptien facture le visa...15 dollars US, soit 11 euros (en mars 2009). Bilan: Marmara vous fait payer 3 fois le prix, ce qui n'est absolument pas justifié par les frais de personnel nécessaire pour vous le remettre. C'est une bonne introduction au prix des excursions Excursions : je recommande vivement de ne pas prendre les excursions avec Marmara, mais avec l'agence Egypt Tour situé en face de l'hôtel légèrement sur la gauche. De prime abord, les renseignements peuvent paraitre plus décousus, mais demander Tamer, qui est parfaitement francophone, pas survendeur pour un sou (il nous a conseillé de faire Louxor avec Marmara vu que lui le fait sur 2 jours et que c'était plus difficillement compatible avec notre timing), et surtout 2 à 2.5 fois MOINS CHER pour les mêmes prestations (ci-dessous ce que nous avons fait):
* Manmya (Maramara) ou Paradise (Egypt Tour) : on vous emmène de l'hôtel à la Marina (en mini bus pour Marmara, en Taxi avec Egypt Tour), ou vous prenez des bateaux (identiques dans les 2 cas) qui vous emmènent en 45 minutes sur un spot de Snorkel (palmes masques et tubas sont fournis avant de monter sur le bateau) où vous restez une petite heure, puis sur une île proche avec grande plage de sable blanc. Côté gauche de la plage, ça s'appelle Paradise (avec des lettres comme Hollywood), côté droit Manmya...mais c'est la même! Vous dinez sous une paillote (buffet standard), puis farniente sous des parasols et/ou snorkeling, avant retour en bateau puis à l'hôtel. Prix Marmara = 55 Euros, prix Egypt Tour = 25 Euros!! Nous avons évidemment fait cette excursion avec Egypt Tour, bonne prestation. Nous avons eu la chance de pouvoir voir à quelques mètres du bateau (qui s'arrête pour l'occasion) plusieurs bancs de dauphins, magnifique!
* Désert 4*4 : Excursion en 4*4 dans le désert, départ directement devant l'hôtel dans les deux cas. Vous allez en un peu moins d'une heure jusqu'à un village bédouin où on vous détaille leur mode de vie. Coucher de soleil sur la montagne, repas un peu minimal puis retour. Concept un peut trop village touriste à mon gout, même si on vous assure qu'ils ont conservé leur mode de vie original. Prix Marmara = 25 Euros, prix Egypt Tour = 12 Euros. Nous l'avons fait avec Egypt Tour
* Louxor : 4h de trajet (+4 au retour), temple de Karnak, colosse de Memnon, Vallée des rois + visite d'un atelier de Papyrus et d'un autre de fabrique de vases. Egypt Tour le fait sur une journée et demi avec départ la veille et nuit dans un hôtel. Marmara fait tout sur la même journée. Prix Marmara = 75 Euros, prix ET = 70 Euros (proche du fait de la nuit d'hotel en plus probablement). Nous l'avons fait avec Marmara
Globalement, je pense que l'anecdote du visa éclaire sur la marge monumentale que se fait Marmara sur tous les extras. Niveau excursions, ils mettent en garde contre les "dangers" de ne pas passer par eux, le fait qu'il déclinent toute responsabilité etc...Pour avoir fait deux excursions avec Egypt Tour et une avec Marmara et avoir comparé les contenus et les retours d'autres clients, je ne vois pas de différence flagrante de qualité de prestation entre les deux.

We’ll be in Dahab again this October—we’ve been going since 1979—to freedive. In 2025, to our surprise, access to the Blue Hole is now paid: on top of the 10 € taxi fare, you have to pay $10 per person to enter the park. So we’re heading outside Dahab to the Three Pools site by bike, rented locally. Is there a bus that goes there, or shared taxis, instead of the tourist taxis? And where can we catch them? We’ve seen big buses full of local families on the site, but we don’t know where to find them. Thanks in advance!
After a perfect first experience as a couple with Memphis Tour in 2020—where we left an outstanding review—we’ve just returned from Egypt with our family of six plus a baby, and we have numerous complaints:
On the day our cruise was supposed to depart, the boat stayed docked in Aswan for over 24 hours without starting the Nile navigation as scheduled. We only left the next day at 3:30 PM for a quick stop/visit to Kom Ombo at 6:00 PM, followed by nighttime navigation until arriving in Esna at 2:00 AM!
The next day, we departed at 9:30 AM and arrived around noon in Luxor, where the boat docked in the middle of nowhere, 12 km from the city center!
In the end, we were charged for 4 days on the magnificent Nile but only got a maximum of 5 hours and 45 minutes of daytime navigation!
And, to top it off, there was no stop in Edfu—meaning no carriage ride to the Temple of Edfu, which was advertised as one of Egypt’s largest and best-preserved temples. Instead, without informing us, they replaced it with a visit to Esna.
During a West Bank visit in Luxor, we had to wait for our kids, who were with another guide for a longer tour. When our guide contacted Memphis Tour, they refused to let us visit the Temple of Medinet Habu (just 5 € away) on our own! We were forced to go through them and pay 25 € per person.
Instead of letting us wait in front of the temple for our kids and the other guide, they dropped us off alone for a full hour in what they called an "alabaster factory"—which was just the usual overpriced tourist shop where all guides take you.
I’ll skip the overly simplistic meal at Philae: grilled chicken and rice with no dessert or coffee. And the amateurish organization where the guide on the boat wasn’t even informed about the next day’s exact program.
Finally, despite our repeated priority requests and Memphis Tour’s promises during booking, there was no baby car seat provided for several long trips—even though the traffic is certainly colorful but not always reassuring.
Nor was the promised baby bed available on the boat—only a third adult bed. We had to insist strongly to get one.
Even though the complimentary carriage and felucca rides in Luxor were nice, they don’t make up for everything else.
This is despite the skills and kindness of the guides and boat staff.
Since 2020, we’ve sent several groups of friends to Memphis Tour for their Egyptian trips, but that definitely won’t happen again in the future.

From what I understand, Giza is close to the pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum, but there isn’t much else to do in the evening.
Zamalek seems pretty quiet with plenty of restaurants.
Basically, I’m looking for a calm neighborhood (if that exists!) where I can stroll around safely and grab a bite to eat in the evening.

For flight schedules and prices from Bordeaux, and ease of reaching Alexandria by bus/train afterward, I’m considering spending 4 days around Hurghada (direct flight from Bdx).
I don’t think I’ll go for courses to get my Level 1, since I don’t plan to dive often in the future—unless you think it’s better than doing 2 discovery dives in this area (I only have one baptism under my belt, in Koh Tao 15 years ago—amazing! But I’m not targeting trips for diving; I need to go to Alexandria, so this is a chance to get back into diving and snorkeling).
I’m looking for a spot to do some snorkeling, 1 or 2 baptisms, and explore the surroundings. I’ll arrive in early March on the evening of Day 0. I’ll have 3.5 days after that (I’m planning to leave on Day 4 around 4 PM by bus/train).
Is Hurghada completely to be avoided in favor of another area in the Red Sea, or can I still have a nice 3.5 days there? I know places like Dahab are more pleasant, but the convenience and timing of Hurghada appeal to me... I usually prefer more authentic travel spots and places, but I’m willing to compromise on that if it’s still worth it for the diving. Or should I only stay 2.5 days and head to Alexandria a day earlier? (I’ve already seen Cairo and Luxor a bit.)

I usually prefer more authentic travel spots and places, but I’m willing to compromise on that if it’s still worth it for the diving. Or should I only stay 2.5 days and head to Alexandria a day earlier? (I’ve already seen Cairo and Luxor a bit.)

Here’s my planned itinerary: Cairo – 2 nights White Desert – 2 nights Hurghada – 2 nights Luxor – 2 nights Aswan – 1 night Marsa Alam – 4 nights Cairo – 1 night -> So, I was planning to rent a car after the desert to go to Hurghada, then Luxor, then Marsa Alam (but the drive from Marsa Alam back to Cairo seems really long, so I was thinking of skipping it and going from Luxor back to Hurghada instead). Could you help me make sense of this, please?

I was thinking of spending 2 days by the Red Sea so the boys can enjoy the water:
-Can you swim in the Red Sea in mid-February? Is the water temperature okay? -People are recommending I go to Safaga rather than Hurghada—do you agree? -How do I make the trip from Luxor to Safaga or Hurghada, by bus or taxi? Do you have any idea of the taxi price? A contact?

The consulate tells me my French residence permit needs to be valid for at least 6 months after I leave Egypt, but my permit will only be valid for 5 months and a few days by my departure date from Egypt.
Is it still doable to get a visa on arrival (at the airport)?

I’ve finally decided to make my childhood dream come true—and at the same time, fulfill my two boys’ dreams (ages 9 and 13). Just to give you some context, we’re used to "backpacker" vacations—the little one even crossed Malaysia on my back. But now I’ve got a teenager, so if I pack too much, he complains, and I’m getting older, so I’m more tired 😉.
I’ve put together this itinerary trying not to rush, based on a felucca trip with a small local agency that has a solid reputation.
Day 1: Late arrival in Cairo Day 2: Cairo - Flight to Aswan (11:20 PM)? Day 3: Aswan? Cairo? Day 4: Aswan Day 5: Sail Day 1 Day 6: Sail Day 2 (camel market + Kom Ombo) Day 7: Sail Day 3 (Jabal El Silsila) Day 8: Sail Day 4 Edfu - transfer to Luxor - arriving at 2 PM Day 9: Luxor (Valley of the Kings) Day 10: Luxor (Karnak) Day 11: Luxor / Cairo? Day 12: Cairo: Giza Day 13: Cairo Giza again - Flight home at 11 PM
My main question is about how much time to allocate in Aswan, Luxor, and Cairo to avoid missing out but without feeling rushed. We definitely have: - 3 full days in Cairo - 2.5 days in Luxor - 1 day in Aswan
I can adjust a bit: - By adding 1 day in Aswan or Cairo - By adding a half-day in Cairo or Luxor.
