Mon mari s'est rendu aujourd'hui à l’hôpital afin de se faire vacciner contre la fièvre jaune. Il avait apporté son carnet de vaccination de l'OMS (Organisation Mondiale de la Santé) car il s'était fait vacciné en 2001, lors d'un 1er voyage en Tanzanie.
Le médecin l'a informé qu'à partir du 11/07/2016, la durée de validité du vaccin passait à vie (décision du 26/05/2016, donc très récente).
Je vais essayer de trouver un document de l'OMS en anglais afin que cela ne pose pas de soucis lors de l'entrée du territoire. J'ai téléphoné à l'ambassade de Tanzanie qui n'était pas au courant de ce changement.
Ma crainte est que cela pose des difficultés à l'entrée du territoire (le genre de soucis que l'on peut rencontrer avec la validité de la carte d'identité qui est passée de 10 à 15 ans par exemple).
C'est confirmé puisque c'est indiqué sur le site de l'OMS, et le médecin n'a pas voulu vacciner mon mari.

L'OMS émet des avis, mais ne fait la loi dans tous les pays de notre ... (belle ?) planète.
Un médecin français (ou: de France) a ses convictions, ses certitudes, mais ne fait la loi nulle part.
Et un agent de la police/douane etc. des frontières de Tanzanie fera ce qu'un "supérieur" lui aura dit de faire.
Il y a lieu d'anticiper un peu, de prendre des précautions, et de songer que certains systèmes ont à vaincre des inerties...
Attendons que le Ministère tanzanien ait officiellement publié que le tout petit machin vicieux, pernicieux, pervers et maléfique a vraiment et totalement disparu des microscopes électroniques surpuissants.

Personnellement, je ne tenterais pas à tout prix de me faire piquer.
Au guichet à l'arrivée, je présenterais à la fois passeport et carnet jaune... même non "à jour" de vaccination anti-FJ ("Certificat international de vaccination ou de prophylaxie").
Je ne tenterais surtout pas d'expliquer à un agent d'immigration tanzanien ce qui (selon vous et même selon l'OMS) est légal, correct, actuel ou quoi que ce soit. NIET. Il a ses instructions ou son ... bon vouloir, et surtout sa susceptibilité. Il ne faut pas, selon moi, aller sans motif sur ce terrain... > Vexation et ... Mama mia !!
Ne dites rien sur le sujet au guichet, soyez très calme. 9 fois sur 10 ça doit passer comme une aiguille dans l'épaule. Si l'agent gars ou garce (?) fait l'intransigeant, écoutez-le/la d'abord religieusement, sans vouloir donner le "La". Il y aura sans doute moyen de faire venir une/un "collègue" qui sera sans doute fortement tenté(e) de faire montre de compétence et d'affirmer son importance ... Surtout restez toujours très calmes et souriants.
Car depuis plusieurs années déjà, la vaccination FJ n'est requise que si vous venez d'une région/d'un territoire où sévit la FJ (voir précisions sur www.diplomatie.gouv.fr/...s-par-pays/tanzanie/
Avant le départ, prenez peut-être contact avec les services de l'ambassade ...
Et votre TO, lui, il doit vous éclairer !!!

L'ambassade de Tanzanie n'est effectivement jamais au courant de rien. En janvier 2008, son site disait que la vaccination n'était pas obligatoire, et nous avons failli nous faire vacciner de force à l'arrivée à Arusha, j'avais pourtant une copie de la âge du site de l'Ambassade... Le site de l'ambassade de Tanzanie en France semble avoir un temps de réaction important, donc méfiance, mais les sites gouvernementaux tanzaniens ne semblent pas plus réactifs. Il faut dire à leur décharge que le 31 janvier 2008, le brave fonctionnaire chargé de régler les problèmes à l'aéroport Kilimandjaro à Arusha nous a exhibé une note administrative du 11.01.2008 qui rendait obligatoire la vaccination antiamarile (fièvre jaune). Cette note était ornée en gros et gras de la mention "CONFIDENTIAL", comprenne qui pourra.
L'ami Murcio a mis le doigt sur ce point sensible : la susceptibilité parfois assez élevée et l'information parfois moins élevée des douaniers. Et il a bien raison d'insister sur LE POINT IMPORTANT : le sourire, si possible (il faut que ce soit possible), accompagné d'une absence d'énervement et de considération et d'écoute !

Question stupide de ma part sans aucun doute mais la réponse éclairera surement ma lanterne. Quelle raison non confidentielle bien sur, le médecin de l’hôpital a t-il invoqué ? Vacciné en 2001 pour une primo vaccination je suppose, rappel dix ans plus tard, donc en 2011, je ne me trompe toujours pas? Si pas fait, la vaccination était de toute façon à refaire sauf qu'aujourd'hui la primo-vaccination d'hier est définitive selon la recommandation de l'OMS et qu'apparemment la France la suit. Ce qui explique le refus du service de santé de vacciner. Qu'en est-il de la Tanzanie? Pour le savoir le demander aux autorités Tanzaniennes dont la réglementation est à jour ou pas et qui pourrait ne pas l'être ou connaître une défaillance administrative à la frontière. Voilà le sac de nœuds... Reste à bien le nouer un peu plus 🙂...donc le dilemme shakespearien est le suivant: faut-il refaire cette fichue vaccination ou ne pas la refaire? Si la Tanzanie ratifie cette recommandation de l'OMS et que le changement est bien relayée à l'aéroport par les services du pays pas de problème. Pour le savoir c'est ici ...et... apparemment tu n'as besoin de cette vaccination que pour Zanzibar. Allez-vous à Zanzibar? Si c'est le cas, alors ça craint grave ! Car d'un coté il te faudra trouver en France s'il en est un le service qui acceptera de le faire...Probablement à tes frais à moins que ta mutuelle ne te rembourse. Dans une autre hypothèse de cette séquence, ne le trouvant pas, probablement ajourner ton voyage à Zanzibar à moins que d'ici là la page web de l'ambassade ne soit remise à jour. Le mieux c'est encore de contacter l'ambassade de Tanzanie.

Ma réflexion qui n'engage que moi : D'après mes recherches, la vaccination à vie était dans les tuyaux depuis un certain temps déjà - 2013 - www.who.int/...w_fever_20130517/fr/. Depuis peu, il y a rupture de vaccin de la fièvre jaune suite à des vaccinations massives en Angola, Congo. Je me demande donc si cette décision de non rappel de vaccination n'a pas été rapidement mise en place suite à cette rupture de stock. Il y ait écrit que les autorités tanzaniennes contrôlent de préférence les carnets jaune via le passeport des titulaires ayant transités par les pays suscités et donc affecté par la fièvre jaune. Les ressortissants n'ayant pas transités par ces pays et venant d'un pays ou le risque est nul ne les intéresse pas.

En novembre 2014, il n'y a eu aucun contrôle de carnet de vaccination à notre arrivée en Tanzanie. Et les panneaux sans l'aérogare indiquaient que le vaccin n'était obligatoire que si on était en provenance d'une zone infectée (ces pays sont listés sur le site France-Diplomatie).

C'est ce que je dits et que tu confirmes. Voilà de quoi rassurer Patricia. Bon il y a quand même les énormes "piquouses" pour ceux dont le carnet jaune n'est pas à jour🙂.
Bon on va suivre les infos fournis par les centres de vaccination : pas de vaccin pour pour mari, ni pour moi puisque nous l'avions fait en 2001, et vaccins pour mes enfants.
Les conseils de notre avisé gouvernement tiennent bien compte de l'imprévisibilité africaine chère à mon ami Alain. Je cite (c'est moi qui souligne) :
Les autorités Tanzaniennes sont très strictes concernant la vaccination contre la fièvre jaune. La vaccination contre la fièvre jaune n’est en principe exigée que pour les personnes en provenance d’un pays où cette fièvre est endémique(1), ou pour les personnes qui ont transité plus de 12 heures par un de ces pays. Dans la pratique, cette réglementation est parfois diversement suivie et la preuve de vaccination est exigée de manière indistincte. Afin d’éviter tout désagrément, il est très vivement recommandé d’être à jour pour la vaccination contre la fièvre jaune et d’être en possession d’un carnet de vaccination international.
Quant à la fiabilité du site de l'ambassade, mon expérience de 2008 montre qu'elle n'a pas toujours été totale. Et je ne dirais pas ce que je pourrais penser, si j'étais moins indulgent, du site actuel où l'ambassadrice de la République de Tanzanie en France s'exprime uniquement en... anglais ?
… Comme quoi, le cauchemar vécu voici huit ans (environ) par un post-adolescent hyper-stressé face à la menace imminente d’une aiguille suspecte peut coloniser le subconscient même du plus conscient de ces choses obscures et laisser à jamais des traces qui ne manqueront sans doute pas d’alimenter les récits de certaines danses (pas macabres !) dans une plaine humide d’Afrique de l’est. Ou bien ai-je moi-même passé des moments trop agités lors de la visite d’un certain site, à une certaine époque, au point d’avoir une vision déformée de mes premières découvertes abstraites du monde des safaris ?

We're about to go on an organized trip to South Africa, including Kruger Park. We were told that Malarone should preferably be taken in the evening at the same time during a meal. But it's hard to know what time we'll have dinner, especially since I've read that in South Africa, dinner is usually around 6 PM.
I'd love to hear from people who've been on organized trips to this destination and could share their experience. We were thinking of taking Malarone around 7:30 PM, assuming dinner would be closer to 7 PM than 6 PM. Also, if the meal ends up being earlier or later than when we take the pill, would a cookie or a piece of bread be enough to take with Malarone?
I’m planning to set off on a "round-the-world" trip/long journey at the start of next year, lasting between 4.5 and 6 months. For now, the itinerary looks like this: South Korea (2 weeks) -> Japan (1 month) -> New Zealand (1 month) -> Argentina (1 month) -> United States (1 month).
I’m on medication (paroxetine 20 mg/day) and was hoping to bring enough for the entire trip so I wouldn’t have to find a doctor on the spot, deal with a molecule that might be slightly different from what’s available in France, or wonder if that’s even a possibility. Generally, I understand it’s possible to travel with approved medications (which should be my case), but often with a limit of 3 months’ worth of treatment.
Since I’m going for 12 months, that means for three-quarters of my trip, I’d have more than 3 months’ worth of medication.

For several years now, increased aggression has been observed in Cape fur seals.
