salut j aimerais avoir vos avis, j ai peur que mon prog sur le week end ne soit trop chargé et que je ne puisse pas faire tout ce que je veux. je vais a LA pour un week end depuis las vegas en partant le vendredi en debut d aprem. mon prog etait le suivant vendredi 26/06 depart de las vegas a midi 17h arrivée sur Los angeles et visite Hollywood BLVD avec Walk of fame et le chinese Theater et le Kodak theater. Egalement voir Hollywood Signs et le Griffith Observatoire vue de jour et de nuit de LA. samedi 27:06 matin visite a 8h de Universal studios, en esperanty pas trop de queue le matin, vers 14h ou 15h depart de Universal studios pour beverly hills pour voir les maisons si on peut en voir de loin et surtout voir rodeo drive, le soir voir un coucher de soleil sur santa monica dimanche 28/06 matin depart pour santa monica avec promenade sur venice beach, voir les plages..... apres midi visite de redondo beach et retour sur las vegas. donc ca c est mon prog que j aurais voulu faire, mais j ai peur de ne pas reussir a le faire completement, deja d arriver un peu plus tard que 17h a LA et de pas avoir assez de temps pour faire Hollywood Blvd avec les theatres et les boutiques et le walk of fame .... et ca j aurais vraiment aimais prendre le temps de le faire tranquilement et je sais pas si 3h suffisent ou si il faut prendre plus, dans ce cas la, malheuresement je zappe universal studios, et je fais Hollywood Blvd le samedi matin, et beverly hills l aprem .. qu en pensez vous et que feriez vous a ma place ???? merci d avance.
Je vis actuellement à Los Angeles en plein milieu du Walk of Fame sur Hollywood Blvd et je t'assure que tu auras largement le temps de profiter de Hollywood Blvd, du Chinese et des boutiques même si tu arrives à 19h. Les boutiques ferment à 22h. Et Hollywood de nuit c'est bien plus cool! Bon de jour, tu peux prendre des photos des étoiles et bien voir le Hollywood sign. Mais ne t'inquiète pas. Universal Studios pour samedi c'est parfait.
Si je peux te conseiller des autres choses à faire. Le Walt Disney Concert Hall est juste mangifique. Il est situé à Downtown où tu peux aller aussi faire un tour. Et puis il y a le Farmers Market et le Grove sur Fairfax&3rd à West Hollywood.
Pas besoin de passer tant de temps à la plage... Il faut faire les quais de Venice et sa plage, la Third Promenade à Santa Monica et son "pier" (ponton).

bon dans ce cas la, mon prog avec Hollywood Blvd directement le vendredi soir c entierement faisable avec la Hollywood signs et observatoire des le vendredi soir ce serait enorme aui moins je pourrais faire universal tranquilement le samedi et faire tout ce que j ai prevu sinon ben tant pis je verrais bien, comment je ferais. mais on me met en garde sur le temps de trajet depuis vegas en partant a midi je me compte 5h donc arrivé vers 17h mais on me dit que j arriverais plus tard.... donc je sais pas ??? j ai reserve pour ce week end best in hollywood a proximité de Hllywood Blvd....
donc pour toi tu pense que je peux ffaire tout mon prog d origine sans probleme ??

Alors oui 5 heures c'est le bonne durée de trajet! Maintenant ça dépend du traffic mais vu que tu fais le trajet inverse (les gens vont plutôt à Vegas pour le week-end) ça devrait aller. T'inquiète pas. Hollywood Blvd c'est bien plus petit que ce qu'on imagine :D
Ton programme est donc très bien. Et Universal Studios prend bcp de temps! On peut y rester de 9h du mat' jusqu'au soir si on veut lol
Vu que tu loges à Hollywood je te conseille vivement de tout faire à pied vendredi soir aussi! Ce sera plus pratique. Et pour un supermarché pas cher et super bien je te conseille vivement Fresh&Easy sur Hollywood Blvd.

Le samedi AM je souhaite faire hollywood blvd, puis le soir me rendre sur la route des crêtes mulholland doctor, est-ce bien ? Le lendemain, visite toute le journée d'universal studio avec le pass, le soir visite de griffith park en passant par mulholland hwy et le lendemain dowtown le matin et l'après midi visite de santa monica et venice jusque 16 H puis restitution de la voiture à 17H00 dois je modifier quelque chose

Nous logerons au Hollywood Hill Hotel, juste au dessous du restaurant japonais YAMASHIRO et au dessus du magic castel (car apparemment hollywood Hill hotel est une annexe).
Est-ce que tu connais ? Les critiques en disent plutôt du bien question vue !
Est-ce que tu es déjà allée diner au restaurant japonais ? Il a l'air plutôt chic mais je ne sais pas si c'est bon !!?
Sinon après une journée à Universal (vip tour) on envisage une autre visite de studios. Les sites web les plus acessibles sont ceux de Sony et Warner BROS. Sur le site de PARAMOUNT il n'y a pas grand chose sur le tour des studios si ce n'est qu'il faut réserver...par téléphone 🤪.
J'hésite encore...est-ce que tu as fait ces tours (WARNER, SONY ou PARAMOUNT) ?
Pour aller à WARNER, à Burbank, on peut passer voir de plus près le "Hollywood sign", est-ce que tu t'en es approchée? Je sais qu'on ne peut pas aller tout près mais la balade sur les hauteurs au milieu des villas à l'air sympa...

Je suis déjà passé plusieurs fois devant l'hôtel où tu loges et il est vraiment bien placé et super beau de l'extérieur. J'imagine que c'est très bien à l'intérieur aussi. Eh non je n'ai pas du tout de budget pour me faire des restos et encore moins un chic! :) Moi c'est Subway mon maximum! hihi Mais en effet les critiques disent du bon! De toute manière si c'est pour manger des sushis ils sont bons partout! Par contre je trouve plus cool de manger des sushis en plein milieu Hollywood Blvd mais maintenant c'est chacun ses goûts! ;)
Sur ce coup-là je peux pas trop t'aider! J'ai pleins d'amis qui ont fait Universal Studios et ils disent que c'est génial! Il y a aussi Disneyland en dehors de LA qui est bien à ce qu'il paraît! Warner c'est $50 et c'est un tour privé obligé. Maintenant je vois pas trop l'intérêt d'aller visiter pleins de studios... Au final c'est tous les mêmes! De toute manière pas besoin de trop te renseigner à l'avance. Tu vas sur Hollywood Blvd au Kodak Theatre au centre touristique et ils te renseignent pour les prix, les horaires etc. Mais Universal prend beaucoup de temps, tu peux y passer la journée et c'est un parc d'attraction! Warner c'est organisé et c'est 4 heures je crois.
Le Hollywood Sign tu as une belle vue depuis Mullholland Drive dans les Hollywood Hills! Tu as aussi une vue MAGNIFIQUE sur tout LA! Mais en effet on peut pas s'en approcher très près!... C'est interdit depuis qu'il y avait pleins de sans-abri qui allait y dormir...! :)

Ok alors Je te conseille plus de faire Mulholland Drive (pas doctor lol mais c'est une jolie erreur!) l'après-midi pour voir LA de jour et pouvoir prendre des photos du Hollywood Sign. Ensuite vers 17h tu peux aller sur Hollywood Blvd et ensuite rester jusqu'au soir pour voir l'ambiance le soir! Les lumières, les bars, les fous :)
Le lendemain je te conseille de te lever tôt et d'être à l'ouverture à Universal Studio. Et tu pars à 16h voir Downtown!
Et le lendemain tu vas le matin à Griffith Park (si t'as vraiment envie le voir) et ensuite tu vas de midi à 17h à Santa Monica et Venice! En allant à Santa Monica, tu devrais t'arrêter à Rodeo Drive pour voir comme c'est... C'est sur le chemin! Et ensuite Third Promenade et Santa Monica Pier et tu finis par Venice sur les quais! Ou l'inverse! :)

la classe le sheraton ( il est quand même très près de l'autoroute.....) je l'ai pris car il est en face d'niversal studio, concernant mulholland drive et grifith park, faut-il faire lesd eux points de vues ou un seul suffit et lequel ? rodeo drive qu'y a-t-il à voir ?? et concernat sant monica, je comte aller sur le quai puis remonter à pied jusq'à venice......le programme que tu as fait, je vais l'étudier mais sur le forum tout le monde déconseille d'aller sur hollywood blvd dès que la nuit tombe...
Y-a-t-il un grand interet à aller dans le sud de LA vers Long beach/Newport beach ?
Si je visite santa monica et venice avant, c'est plus ou moins pareil ou non ?

Santa Monica est une petite ville très agréable à visiter, avec notamment sa rue principale où l'on trouve de très bons restos et une multitude de petits magasins.
Il y a aussi de très belles plages à Santa Monica, ceci dit, je préfère celle de Manhattan Beach.
Venice est aussi sympa à visiter, mais le circuit touristique a tué l'ambiance qui régnait à la grande époque des sixties, seventies.
Attention à la circulation, car il y a des bouchons en permanence à L.A.
Sinon à L.A. il y de nombreux sites à visiter, comme le Griffith Park, L.A. Downtown, Beverly Hills, Sunset Blvd, Hollywood Blvd...
A long beach il y a le "Queen Mary" , paquebot mythique (qui ressemble un peu au Titanic) qui est devenu un hotel restaurant. J'ai réservé pour le brunch du dimanche, il parait que c'est chouette (dans la grande salle de bal). Le bateau se visite, on peut aussi dormir dans une cabine...

Enfin, Universal studios, il vaut mieux y aller un Mardi qu'un dimanche ou c'est pareil pour la foule ?? (ce sera fin juin 09)

Cela fait plaisir de voir des forumeuses et forumeurs apprécier Los Angeles, car trop souvent, cette région est décriée et snobbée sur ce forum.
C'est clair que pour la personne qui passe une nuit à L.A, elle ne va pas rentrer avec de superbes souvenirs.
L.A. se mérite, il faut impérativement avoir un véhicule et ne pas avoir peur de rouler dans les bouchons. Il faut donc prévoir du temps pour accéder d'un site à l'autre. Ce qui n'est bien évidemment pas le cas si vous visitez San Francisco, New York ou Las Vegas. Dans ces trois villes, la plupart des sites sont accessibles à pied ou en transports publics. Mais L.A. est tellement énorme en superficie qu'il vaut mieux oublier les transports publics qui sont au dessous de tout, par rapport à NYC, Londres ou Paris !
J'y suis déjà allé à trois reprises à L.A. où j'ai passé en tout une quinzaine de jours... Et je suis loin d'avoir tout vu ! A chaque voyage, je me fixe de nouveaux objectifs afin de découvrir L.A. et sa région comprenant de véritables merveilles touristiques, notamment sur la côte du Pacifique. Et même San Diego n'est qu'à 2h30 (en voiture) de L.A...
Mon prochain voyage aux States et donc à L.A. sera agendé en 2010.

Rodeo Drive c'est juste 30min-1heure histoire de voir tous les magaz chics (depuis dehors) mais bon c'est pas obligatoire mais c'est Rodeo Drive quoi! :D
Sinon Hollywood Blvd la nuit ça craint pas le soir. J'y ai vécu 4 mois et j'ai jamais été mal la nuit! C'est cool de voir l'ambiance le soir avec les lumières et les boîtes qui ouvrent!

Il faut prendre son temps pour faire Santa Monica et Venice aller-retour. Je dirais 2-3 heures au rythme lent... Mais si jamais tu vois que tu as pas le temps. Tu peux toujours prendre le bus, c'est 1, 25$ et c'est le numéro 33 ou 333! :) En plus si tu pars de Santa Monica à 15/16h il fait jour tu fais la Third Promenade et le ponton et ensuite tu marches jusqu'à Venice tu fais les quais et le soleil commence à tomber et tu peux boire un tite bière et rentrer en bus. C'est bien plus agréable sérieusement...
Sinon Universal Studios il y a tous les jours du monde mais c'est sûr que y a plus de monde le week-end quand même! Logique!

Effectivement, moi je suis jamais allé à L1 mais je pense que je vais adorer, et d'ailleurs je n'ai pas du prévoir assez de jours dans cette ville, mais ca va me permettre de la découvrir et ca me fera une raison d'y retourner ;)

donc ben il me reste encore 2 semaines avant de partir et 3 avant mon weekend a LA. A vrai dire je balise un peu a l idée de faire ce week end seul, avec ma voiture de loc , je regarde sur google earth le trajet et c est 80% de desert en plus je pense que mon amie la chaleur sera la est qu elle avoisinera les 40° un peu moins en arrivant a LA, mais l apprehension de la panne en pleine chaleur , seul et tout, a vrai dire ca me fait balisé. j aurais savoir un peu les conditions de trajet et tout....

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏
Do you have any tips for a fun and doable itinerary over about 20–25 days with kids, without rushing?

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:

My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.

Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well.

We’d like to walk to Eagle Falls and then Eagle Lake. I’ve spotted two parking lots that seem close to each other and give access to the trailhead. Where and how do we pay for entry to Emerald Bay State Park and Inspiration Point?
**Viewpoints on the East Side:**
Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I’ve read there are trails to access the trailheads for Cinder Cone (11 km) and Warner Valley. Are these easy trails for an SUV?
Are there any other must-see spots or things we shouldn’t miss?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!

We just finished 9 days in the American West and wanted to share our experience because we had an amazing time.
I know some of you might ask, why use an agency? Honestly, we didn’t really feel like doing all the driving and planning, especially since we didn’t know the area at all. And since our English isn’t great, having French-speaking guides was a big comfort.
We found Emmanuelle and Isabelle, and wow, they were fantastic. It was just the two of us with them, so it was a truly VIP, ultra-personalized experience. They treated us like royalty from start to finish. These two live in Las Vegas and know the region like the back of their hand. The service was really personalized. They adapted to our pace and preferences, and we could stop whenever we wanted to take photos. It’s the luxury of being in a small private group—you’re not just a number on a big bus.
In short, we really felt like we were traveling with friends rather than professional guides. Everything’s included in the price (hotel pickup, meals, park entries, etc.), so the value for money is fair.
We loved it so much that we’re already planning to come back next year to explore other areas with them. I think we’ve caught the American West bug—it’s all we can think about, and we can’t wait to return.
