Hi there,

Here’s my vote:

Rouquine38, photo 1, 3 points. A tough shot to pull off. Captured on the fly, super dynamic, and the diagonal composition is really pleasing. Well done!

Girardinpho, photo 3, 2 points. Nemo’s charming world—maybe I’ll swim there one day...

Dolma, photo 2, 1 point. For the vintage vibe that film photos bring, which are always fun to look at. Plus, I love street scenes, and this one’s well composed.

I also liked Kola’s #3 (great idea 😉) and Marien’s #3 (perfect timing).

Didn’t participate this month but still voting:

Dolma photo 3 😎😎😎 First time I’ve ever seen a fish dryer!

Rouquine38 photo 2 😎😎 I could’ve also voted for the first one, but I don’t wanna wrap this up just yet 😉

Girardinpho photo 3 😎 The colors are wild! Natural or slightly saturated?

Thanks to all the participants and the organizer, and thanks to Attila for the slideshow.

Good evening,

So: Rouquine 1, 3 pts Fierce beauty or beautiful ferocity.

Xrctn 3, 2 pts I discovered the existence of a place I didn’t know at all.

Dolma 3, 1 pt Honestly, for the theme of fish drying in the Iberian Peninsula, I prefer one by Gaura in the discussion. Since this one is out of competition, I’ll go with this one—it’s funny.

Dolma, photo 2: 3 points For the restoration work on an old photo and the very lively scene.

Girardinpho, photo 1: 2 points It was very difficult to capture the camouflage effect underwater, yet it’s perfectly done here. You can clearly see the fish while realizing you might have missed it. Well done!

xrctn, photo 3: 1 point Off the beaten path! Stunning!

I prioritized originality and the photographer’s effort in my voting. I really like Rouquine’s photo 1, but it’s a classic I see a lot on YouPic. Actually, if I could, I would’ve given 3 points to each of the three photos I chose.

Good evening,

First of all, a big thank you to Agnès for the photorama 😉

Just a reminder that there are still 3 hours left (until 11:59 PM) to vote and find out the contest results.

And last but not least, here’s my vote for this contest:

3 points for photo No. 2 by Dolma and her fish market in Galle, southern Sri Lanka.

2 points for photo No. 1 by Kate and another fish market in Pondicherry, South India.

1 point for photo No. 1 by Lillione and her rug.

Have a great evening

Congrats to Rouquine38 for her "crushing" victory—it’s now up to her to organize the May 2025 contest!

Great choice of a theme that interests everyone (or almost everyone 😛)

Good luck! 😏

Hello! We even get to see the nighttime results! Congrats Isabelle on this win—you’ve been so close to the podium in a few contests lately! Thanks to Raga for hosting this month. Even though the theme didn’t inspire me much, I still got to see some beautiful photos.

A huge thank you to everyone who voted for the fish and the Pied Kingfisher! 😊 Congrats to Girardinpho and Kate—my favorite photos! 🤩

Thanks to Ragamuffin for organizing the contest.

I’ll try to post May’s theme within the next hour, otherwise it’ll be tomorrow. I’m currently up north in Finland and heading out for a hide session in an hour—network coverage is really spotty there until tomorrow. 🥶

Have a great day

Hi Isabelle,

When I saw your photo pop up on the screen, I immediately thought: "this is the one!". Congratulations! Perfect sharpness of the subject against a blurred background (I can’t remember what this technique is called in contemporary photography jargon), a diagonal line running from the prey’s tail to the predator’s beak. I assume this is an image from a burst-mode series. That said—can I?—while the eye is immediately drawn to the subject, it quickly shifts (at least mine did) to that fluffy ball, making me wonder about its position. But I’m nitpicking—perfection isn’t of this world—and I’ll repeat my compliments.

If I understood correctly, you’ve specialized in wildlife photography. On that note, have you heard of the International Festival of Wildlife and Nature Photography (FIPAN) held every autumn in Montier-en-Der (Haute-Marne)? This year, it’s from November 20th to 23rd. There’s also a photo contest organized annually. I think you’d fit right in. Unfortunately, registrations for this year closed yesterday!

Maybe you’ve never heard of Pascal Bourguignon, a local professional wildlife photographer and co-organizer of the festival.
