Which airline from Lyon to Mahé?

We’re planning a trip to the Seychelles in summer 2027. We live in Lyon and I’m looking for all possible flight options. I’m interested in hearing from people who’ve flown from Barcelona with Emirates to Mahé (layover in Dubai). I’m wondering how easy parking is in Barcelona and how manageable it is to fly from there with two kids aged 10 and 13. Flights from Barcelona are cheaper than from Lyon or CDG. I’d love to hear from anyone who chose BCN with Emirates. If you’ve got other suggestions, I’m all ears. Thanks!

Good evening,

Since Emirates departs from Lyon and you live there, you’d really need a *huge* price difference to justify flying from Barcelona—factoring in fuel, tolls, parking, and miscellaneous costs.

For the Emirates parking I’ve used in Barcelona (not for the Seychelles—I flew Etihad/Air Seychelles), it’s at Terminal 1. Book the parking here:

JT Barcelona-El Prat Airport T1 Car Parks | Aena

The general T1 parking is connected to the airport on foot, which can be super convenient with kids. But of course, it’s pricier than the low-cost option that requires a shuttle.

Few airlines currently serve the Seychelles. From Lyon, there’s Turkish Airlines. From Barcelona and Paris, there’s Qatar Airways, but also from Lyon with two layovers (check their website). Etihad and Air Seychelles (combined ticket on Etihad’s site from Lyon airport *and* train station), Ethiopian, and Kenya Airways. From Zurich, you’ve got a direct flight with Edelweiss (check Swiss’s site)—ideal with kids.

Since this trip is planned for summer 2027, things could change by then, as not all flight schedules are finalized yet.

Hi there,

Also check flights departing from Milan, allowing +/- 3 days in your search engines.

Thanks, I’ll definitely check out Milan. I hadn’t thought of that. Thanks!

hi, I agree with Erjome—it might get expensive going via Barcelona. Otherwise, there’s also Edelweiss, which has a direct flight from Zurich. The issue there is that you’d need to get to Zurich. Check Skyscanner to see if there are flights from Geneva too.
