So happy this forum is back up!!
Recap of 3 little weeks in the Azores in August 2024 camping (Terceira, Flores/Corvo, São Miguel), with a special focus on the camping part—I had a hard time finding info on that before I left.

Hi everyone,
I’m a newbie to this forum, passionate about wildlife, the landscapes of East Africa, and Tanzania in particular. This June 2024 trip/safari is our 7th visit to Tanzania, and our 5th in the south, which has drawn us more than the north ever since we discovered it.

We were torn between the north and the south of the kingdom—the fear of smoke from slash-and-burn farming and a real desire to just chill on the sand tipped the scales toward the south...
What if we rented a car?

Since no travel journal has been posted about this destination since 2020, I’m giving it a go—maybe it’ll jog some memories for a few or give others some ideas.

The setting is gorgeous—a stunning, well-maintained tropical garden with a lovely pool. You can also book massages. The cottages have a tropical style with living roofs, simple and no frills.
I remember that before leaving, I was a bit afraid I wouldn’t feel that same sense of wonder I had 2 years earlier in Botswana (see my travel journal). That fear was unfounded... the magic worked its charm once again!
Starting from the Paris region, we crossed Belgium and Germany, took the ferry from Travemünde in northern Germany to Helsinki, followed the Russian border up to northern Finland, then continued into Norway all the way to Nordkapp.

Dear members of this forum,
*With the pandemic, travel guides have been replaced by cookbooks. With lockdown, there’s no need for the globetrotter’s guide—the cookbook is gospel, and your daily life turns into a Spaghetti Western. It’s no longer about the good guys and the bad actors, but the good and bad fats. And for a few extra pinches of salt. To the tune of Ennio Morricone, it’s hard to diagnose your pastalogy—sorry, your pathology.

" Ah, here it is at last—this sweet scent of elsewhere so dear to Cricri and Lulu’s noses, that mix of apprehension and desire when facing the unknown.
We’re really diving into the unknown this time, taking you to the island of SÃO TOMÉ... also known as the island: ‘Wait, what? What did you say?’ 😄. Because apparently, no one’s heard of São Tomé... except our Portuguese friends.

Discover Albania in the fall, with its wild beaches, mountains, and villages steeped in history, not to mention its gastronomy. Albania is an undiscovered gem of the Balkans—come explore it here!
I’m strolling along the ghats and taking a shared rickshaw with a family to Vrindavan, a city of temples dedicated to Krishna. I visit several of them while wandering through the lively streets amid a crowd of devotees.

Like many, Iceland has been a real love affair for me for many years now. My first trip was in February 2016, when there were five of us—including our three daughters, who were 1, 6, and 5 at the time. It was a very short stay with just one accommodation north of the capital.
We explored the south, from Vik to Grindavik, and of course, I was left wanting more.

I’m adding my small contribution to the reopening celebration by posting this travel journal from India, which we did in January 2024. There were four of us—two couples—and we spent three weeks looping through Rajasthan, stopping in Delhi and Agra (which, as everyone knows, aren’t actually in Rajasthan).
Quebecers: absolutely wonderful people when it comes to welcoming tourists—especially French ones—and how they treat us. You can ask them for advice at the supermarket, for info here and there, and even distant cousins are super helpful!
The itinerary will be pretty classic, though a bit disjointed, to fit our dates and interests. For us, we’ll arrive in Luang Prabang (LP), where we’ll take some time to acclimate, then spend a few days in the northern Laos mountains—Nong Khiaw and Muang Ngoi.
The Empire State Trail is a 900 km route specifically designed for biking, with 75% on dedicated bike paths. First, it follows the Erie Canal to Albany, then heads down the Hudson Valley all the way to the tip of Manhattan.
Autumn is the perfect season to visit Corsica: fewer tourists, ideal temperatures around 25°C, and most importantly, less stress on the roads. You can feel it everywhere. Servers and shopkeepers are more relaxed and have time to chat...
Before heading to Mexico in the summer of 2023 with my family (my partner and our two boys, aged 18 and 16), I honestly don’t even remember why, but I thought the Yucatán was too touristy, too cliché, too expensive, and overrated! The country didn’t really appeal to me, but faced with my wife’s insistence—she’d been there years ago, before we met, and had promised to show our sons the place—my arguments didn’t hold much weight.
The years go by and Machu Picchu has been on our "to-do list" for a few decades now... But Peru, fortunately, is so much more than just this legendary site... The two of us set off for a 15-day trip.
Here’s a little story about my first trip to Japan with my partner. For a first-time visit, we went from October 29 to November 13, 2024.
We spent 21 nights there and covered a 3,400 km loop by car and 160 km on foot (we’re still trying to hike as long as we’re in shape) starting from Denver in September 2024. Our goal with this road trip was to explore Colorado a bit more—we’d stayed there for 6 nights in 2019—and especially to see it during the arrival of autumn and the changing colors of the leaves in the mountains.
The Cyclades attract a lot (a LOT) of people in the summer, and it’s not always clear how to visit them. For our first family trip to the Cyclades, we followed an itinerary that seems great for exploring...
After about 12 hours of flying from Toulouse (via Paris), we landed in Bogotá 6 years after our first trip to Colombia. This time, our journey will be very different—the only common part being this stop in the Colombian capital.
The market sprawls outside all around the large, circular, multi-story hall. We buy some grapes and bottles of pomegranate juice pressed right in front of us for just a few sums.
Tonight, we’re meeting up with Nasrullo. Such a warm encounter—we’ve been exchanging messages for over two years, and I’ve really put him through the wringer with my constant itinerary changes and shifting trip durations.
