Overview of the offer
The archipelago has around 60,000 beds spread across approximately 250 establishments, catering to almost all budgets and types of travellers. As you might expect, the island of Malta has the most infrastructure, followed by Gozo, then Comino, which has only one hotel. Given the short distances, it can be useful to choose a fixed place to stay for your trip and then explore from there.
Hotels
Hotels and family-run guesthouses are mainly located in the capital and, above all, along the coast in the seaside resorts of the northern shore. Budget around 30 €-40 for a double room in a basic guesthouse and 40 €-60 for a "classic" hotel, keeping in mind that prices tend to rise in summer. There are also a few youth hostels in the archipelago.
All-inclusive
Several hotels and holiday villages specialise in all-inclusive deals. It’s worth checking these out, especially if there are promotions. In fact, the price of these packages can sometimes be very attractive—even to the point where the cost of "flight + hotel" is almost the same as a standalone flight to the destination.
Camping
There is only one campsite in Malta, Malta Campsite, located on the northern coast. It offers tent pitches, dormitory accommodation, and rentals of mobile homes, caravans, or chalets. Otherwise, wild camping is prohibited in Malta.

A growing option that combines hotel services with the flexibility of an apartment, particularly the ability to cook for yourself. This can be a great choice for family stays or longer trips with a group.

This option is mainly available on Gozo, in farms or more or less traditional countryside homes.
Choosing your accommodation
In any case, it’s best to pick a fixed base and explore from there. If you’re travelling solo or as a pair, family-run guesthouses can be a good option. For groups or families, renting a house or apartment by the week may be better. And for a high-end beach holiday, an all-inclusive package could also be worth considering.
