Currency

  • Currency: US dollar (100 cents).
  • Banknotes: $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100.
  • Coins: 1, 5, 10, 25, and 50 cents + $1.
  • Exchange:

Since January 1, 2011, the US dollar has replaced the Netherlands Antillean guilder on the three islands, which was previously in circulation. This change was decided in 2008, opting for the US dollar over the euro.

Exchange

If you haven’t stocked up on dollars before your trip, you can always exchange your currency (not always at a good rate) at banks or, more simply, use the few ATMs available.

Payment Methods

In addition to cash payments, credit cards are accepted. But as always, watch out for bank fees if you make too many small purchases or withdrawals.

Upon Return

Since you’ll be using US dollars during your trip, there will be no problem exchanging any leftover money afterward—or simply using it on another trip.
