Climate Overview

Bonaire

Bonaire, like its neighbors Aruba and Curaçao, is a sunny island. It is a dry land with only a short rainy season from late October to early January. Throughout the year, the average daytime temperature hovers around 30°C and the nighttime temperature around 25°C. However, thanks to the trade winds blowing in from the open sea and first hitting the north/northeast coast, the heat remains bearable. As for hurricanes, Bonaire is not directly in their path, though the island may occasionally feel their effects.

Saba and Sint Eustatius

The two small islands share the region's tropical climate—hot and humid, though tempered by sea breezes. The rainy season runs from late June to early November, while the dry season spans December to early April. Average temperatures range between 25 and 30°C year-round, though humidity can make the rainy period, particularly from August to November (the wettest months), feel muggier. The islands also lie in the path of hurricanes, which are fairly common in this part of the Caribbean between July and late October.

Best Time to Visit the Dutch Caribbean

For Bonaire, the climate and temperatures remain fairly consistent year-round, so there isn’t a clearly better time to visit. If you prefer, you can avoid the slightly rainier period (late October to early January) or opt for early in the year, when it’s marginally cooler.

For the other two islands, it’s best to avoid the rainy and hurricane season, making December to late May the ideal window.
