Climate and Weather in Haiti

Climate Overview

Haiti has a tropical humid climate with a dry season and a rainy season. Temperatures remain nearly constant year-round, averaging 30/34°C during the day and 20/23°C at night, moderated by trade winds.

Generally, the dry season runs from late November to March. During this period, the sun shines, and there are only a few occasional nighttime showers. The rainy season (the rest of the year) often sees a lull between mid-June and late July, though heavy late-afternoon storms can still occur. Outside of these downpours, the sun shines, but high temperatures combined with humidity create a heavy atmosphere. Late June to early November is also hurricane season, which can cause significant damage to the island, as seen in the past.

Best Time to Visit Haiti

Like other Caribbean islands, the dry season from late November to March is ideal if you want to avoid excessive rain, occasional mugginess, or hurricanes that may hit the island.
