Climate and Weather in Montserrat
Location Map of Montserrat
Climate Overview
Montserrat has a relatively mild and fairly dry tropical climate, similar to other islands in the region, thanks in particular to the trade winds blowing from the northeast. Average monthly temperatures range from 24 to 31°C, with July to October being the hottest period and December to April the coolest. Rainfall is heaviest between July and November, which is also (from August to the end of October) the hurricane season, when storms can sometimes be highly destructive, like Hugo in 1989. In contrast, the start of the year is the driest. Generally, the east coast (Atlantic) is the most exposed to bad weather, while the west coast (Caribbean) is more sheltered.
