Climate Overview
The country has two distinct climates. Inland Croatia experiences a continental climate in both plains and mountains, with hot to very hot summers and cold, snowy winters (not just at high altitudes). Along the coast and on the islands, the climate is Mediterranean, featuring mild winters and dry, hot summers—though tempered slightly by the sea. However, autumn and early winter bring rain and windy conditions, with cold and sometimes violent winds.
Best Time to Visit Croatia
Late spring and early autumn are ideal for visiting, as is summer (though crowded and more expensive) for those prioritizing beach time.
