Where to Eat
Outside all-inclusive hotel restaurants, you can eat at state-run establishments (not always great for food) but also increasingly in what are called paladares.
Paladares are essentially small "home restaurants"—places where you can eat home-cooked, traditional food payable in CUC. They remain affordable for visitors, with a full meal costing around 5 to 10 € (expect a bit more in tourist areas or state-run restaurants). That said, you can eat for even less (under 3 €) at places where you pay in Cuban pesos.
