Entry Requirements and Visa for Albania
FR

People.

For French Citizens

For tourist travel, French nationals do not need a visa for stays of up to 90 days within any 6-month period. A passport or even an ID card that is valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended stay is sufficient.

Other Nationalities

The same applies to all visitors from the European Union, as well as nationals of 78 countries, including Canada and Switzerland, who also do not need a visa for stays of up to 90 days.

Long Stays

For those wishing to stay in Albania for more than 3 months, everything is handled through the e-Albania platform, where long-stay and residency applications are centralized. Over twenty reasons for staying are possible, with Europeans only needing to provide a few financial guarantees and other minor documents. In the end, you receive a one-year renewable permit, and after 5 years, the option to apply for resident status. Generally, Albania remains very open to foreign investors and residents.

In Case of Violation

As is often the case, overstaying results in a fine or deportation with a ban on re-entering the country. That said, given how easy it is for Europeans to extend their stay legally, it’s best to avoid such issues.

Vehicles

It’s easy to travel to Albania with your own vehicle. All you need is a green card, the vehicle registration document, and a French or other EU driving license. You can then drive in the country for up to 6 months within a year before needing to either take the vehicle out of the country or start the process of permanent importation, which involves paying some taxes.
