Flying to Dominica
Location Map of Dominica
Overview
Dominica is one of the few Caribbean islands that does not receive long-haul flights from Europe or even North America. This limitation stems from the configuration of its two (small) airports, which also contributes to the island's relatively limited tourist influx. Of the two, Melville Hall Airport in the northeast is the "larger" one, while Douglas-Charles Airport near the capital handles very few flights. Overall, Dominica is connected to only about a dozen other islands in the region.
Types of flights
Local airlines
Dominica has no national airline.
Charters, scheduled, and low-cost flights
The island welcomes scheduled flights as well as seasonal charters from other islands.
Deals and special offers
From France
There are no direct flights, so you must transit through another Caribbean destination, primarily Guadeloupe. Expect to pay between 700 and 1,000 € round-trip for Paris-Dominica. It may also be worth comparing these fares with flights to Guadeloupe, where you can add a round-trip to Dominica.
From the "French West Indies"
There are regular direct connections between Dominica and Guadeloupe (Air Antilles, LIAT, and Winair) for roughly 200 € round-trip, as well as seasonal flights to St. Barthélemy (St Barth Commuter) and St. Martin (BVI, LIAT, and Winair). However, there are no regular flights to or from Martinique, though a taxi-plane service is available with Airawak.
From another country
Dominica only has flights from within the region, with no direct connections from Europe or North America. However, there is a service from the Venezuelan island of Margarita Island (with Conviasa), which makes it easier to reach the mainland. Otherwise, LIAT operates the most direct routes, including Antigua, Barbados, and San Juan (also served by Seaborne).

This is Dominica’s "main" airport. It is located in the northeast of the island, near the town of Marigot, and about an hour from Portsmouth.
