Flying to Gibraltar
FR

General Information

Gibraltar has a small airport that handles around 400,000 passengers per year, almost exclusively from Great Britain. Its routes include London (British Airways, easyJet, Monarch), Bristol (easyJet), plus Birmingham and Manchester (Monarch). Since 2015, there has also been a flight to/from Tangier with RAM.

So, from France or elsewhere, the options for flying directly are very limited. If you don’t want to go via England, you’ll need to transit through Tangier or opt for a nearby Spanish airport instead. Around 100 km from Gibraltar, you’ll find the airports of Jerez and especially Malaga, the latter being somewhat the "main" airport for Gibraltar with 14 million passengers per year and flights from all over Europe. In the end, expect to pay around 120 €–250 for a round trip from France.

Gibraltar International Airport

Gibraltar Airport is located in the city, right at the border with Spain—a border Spain considers the runway to be built on Spanish, not British, territory. Among its peculiarities, the airport serves both military and civilian purposes. It’s also crossed by the road linking Gibraltar to Spain, which closes whenever a plane takes off or lands.
