Airports in Istanbul

The Istanbul metropolitan area has two airports, including the new and modern "Istanbul Airport," which has been operational since 2019, replacing Atatürk Airport, which now handles only cargo.

  • Istanbul Airport: Opened in 2019, this is Turkey's main airport and the largest in the world in terms of capacity.
  • Sabiha Gökçen Airport: This is Istanbul's second airport, located on the Asian side. It primarily serves low-cost airlines.
