Airports in Washington
When it comes to air travel, as with other things, Washington is linked with the neighboring city of Baltimore (Maryland) to form the "Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Area." Three major airports serve the region:
- Washington Dulles International Airport: Located in neighboring Virginia, this is the most "well-known" airport in the region, though not the busiest, thanks to its extensive international network.
- Ronald Reagan Airport: This is the closest airport to the capital. It specializes in domestic flights and flights to Canada.
- Baltimore-Washington International Airport: Originally Baltimore's airport, it handles over 25 million passengers per year and is (by a narrow margin) the largest of the three airports in the region.
