Entry Requirements and Visa for the United Arab Emirates
FR

Travelers

For French Citizens

For tourist travel, no visa is required for stays of up to 90 days within a 6-month period. However, a passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry is mandatory to avoid being turned away.

Other Nationalities

The same applies to visitors from the European Union, Canada, Switzerland, and many other nationalities.

Long Stays

While extending a tourist stay is possible, most long-term visa applications are for relocation or work, primarily in Dubai.

Applications must theoretically be made within 30 days of arrival to qualify for one of the various residency statuses available to foreigners. Beyond financial criteria and mandatory insurance, all applicants must undergo a medical examination to screen for HIV, tuberculosis, or hepatitis B—conditions that local authorities strongly disapprove of, often resulting in visa refusal or deportation if discovered later.

In Case of Violation

Penalties typically start with a fine, here around a dozen euros per day in addition to the overstay. More severe or repeated violations may lead to deportation and a temporary or permanent ban from the country.
