The "Green Line" and crossing between cities
While access from one part of the island to the other—and thus Nicosia—used to be somewhat complicated for visitors, things are now much simpler. There are three crossing points between the two parts of the city (Ayios Dometios/Metehan, Ledra Palace, and Ledra/Lokmaci) that pass through the demarcation line known as the "Green Line", controlled by the UN.
