Getting Around the U.S. Virgin Islands
Between the Islands
You can travel from one island to another by plane and/or boat.
By Plane
The archipelago's two airports (on Saint Thomas and Saint Croix) are connected by small aircraft from several airlines. Local carriers, Hummingbird Air and Seaborne Airlines, as well as the American airline Cape Air, operate regular flights. Allow about half an hour of flight time for roughly $80 USD minimum one-way.
By Boat
VI Sea Trans boats provide service between Saint Croix (Christiansted) and Saint Thomas (Charlotte Amalie). As for the Saint Thomas/Saint John route, it benefits from numerous daily connections with several companies, either from Charlotte Amalie (45 minutes at sea) or the shorter Redhook Bay (20 minutes) to Cruz Bay.
On Saint John
The island covers 51 km² with a population of 4,200 and is 60% covered by the forest of Virgin Islands National Park.
