Tourism
This chain of islands stretching east of Bali (itself part of the Lesser Sunda Islands) offers a striking contrast in tourism. While Lombok, the Gili Islands, Komodo and its "famous" Komodo dragons, or even Flores attract their share of visitors, other islands or archipelagos (Alor, Sumba, Timor...) remain virtually untouched by tourism. Yet almost everywhere, you’ll find beautiful beaches, surfing and diving spots, volcanoes to climb on treks, and numerous traditional villages where local communities have preserved their customs. In short, even though the Sunda Islands have very few monuments or traces of their past, the region remains a delight to explore.
