This is the northernmost group of islands in the Philippines, with the large island of Luzon hosting the capital, Manila. For travelers, this part of the country offers a wide range of things to do and see, including historical landmarks (Spanish era, World War II), vibrant local cultures and traditions (especially around Sagada), stunning landscapes—with Banaue and its famous UNESCO-listed terraced rice fields as the highlight—as well as plenty of outdoor activities. Of course, there are also beautiful beaches and numerous diving spots, much like elsewhere in the archipelago.
