An archipelago that, together with the Daito and Sakishima island groups, forms the Ryukyu Islands. Very different from the rest of the country in terms of climate, landscapes, local culture, and architecture, Okinawa and the Ryukyu attract visitors for their beaches and diving. There are also several World War II relics and sites.
