Luggage and equipment to bring

Pack light clothing for summer, with a light sweater for evenings or air conditioning. For the rest of the year, bring slightly warmer items that can also protect against the wind. Note that appropriate attire is recommended for visiting churches.

Wi-Fi (usually free) is widely available across the country, with over 200 hotspots, plus connections in many hotels, bars, restaurants, and other locations. You’ll also find plenty of cybercafés in the most tourist-heavy areas, especially between Valletta and the north of Malta Island.

Post

Most towns have a post office. They’re generally open until mid-afternoon on weekdays, plus Saturday mornings. You can also buy stamps at newsagents and use the many red postboxes to mail your letters.

Malta is on GMT+1, the same as France (or Italy), so there’s no time difference.

Electricity

230 V (50 Hz) with "British" plugs (officially type G), which will require an adapter for "French" or North American plugs.

Local tourist offices

There are around ten local tourist offices (see addresses) in Valletta and the port, at Luqa Airport, in Birgu, Mellieħa, Mdina, St. Paul’s Bay, and Victoria on Gozo Island. They’re generally open Monday to Saturday all day and often Sunday mornings too.
