Luggage and Equipment to Bring

At any time of year, pack light clothing plus a sweater for evenings, especially from December to February, or for air conditioning. Don’t forget sun protection and rain gear. Keep in mind that many nightlife spots (restaurants, casinos, etc.) often appreciate slightly dressier attire.

Communications

Telephone

International dialing code: (00 +) 1242.

To call the Bahamas: dial 00 1242 followed by the contact’s number. Conversely (to call France), dial 011 33 followed by the contact’s number, omitting the initial zero.

In all cases, for international calls, it’s best to use prepaid phone card booths rather than hotel services, which are usually very expensive.

Internet

Cybercafés can be found in Nassau, Freeport, and tourist areas. Wi-Fi is also fairly widespread, especially in hotels.
