Although no vaccines are mandatory for staying in the country, it is still best to be up to date with your "basic vaccinations."

Safety

Crime and Delinquency

Crime has been on the rise in Lebanon for some time, particularly in Beirut and its surrounding areas. So, remain cautious—even if, as always, taking basic precautions for any trip (such as not flaunting wealth, avoiding deserted beaches, not walking alone at night in isolated areas, opting for official taxis, and being careful in transport) will reduce risks. In case of aggression, however, it is advisable not to resist and to always carry "something" to give to attackers.

Scams and "Tourist" Harassment

Socio-Political Risks and Terrorism

Lebanon’s situation has never been simple, both internally and in its relations with its Israeli neighbor, all within a region long shaken by various tensions. In short, the terrorist threat remains significant, especially since the Syrian conflict sometimes spills over into Lebanese territory.

As a result, all border areas are strongly discouraged, as are certain neighborhoods in cities like Beirut or Sidon. In any case, it is wise to stay informed about the current situation in the places you plan to visit.

Foreign Consulates in the Country

If you encounter problems while traveling abroad, your country’s consular services can assist you. It is also worth knowing that if you are a citizen of the European Union and your country is not represented, you can contact any other representation of an EU member state.
