Official Recommendations

In France, both for individuals and professionals, the "travel advice" from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding precautions for each country has legal value. A similar online travel advice system exists in several countries:

Scams and "Tourist" Harassment

Socio-Political Risks and Terrorism

Although bordering the DRC and Sudan—hardly known for being "peaceful"—Uganda is relatively spared when it comes to attacks and armed groups (this hasn’t always been the case). However, the "gorilla region" may occasionally be temporarily closed due to security concerns. There’s also the Karamoja province (northeast), long known for its inter-community tensions.

In short, even if risks are limited or localized, it’s best to stay vigilant and keep up to date with the situation if you plan to venture off the beaten path.

Foreign Consulates in Uganda

If you encounter problems while traveling abroad, your country’s consular services can assist you. It’s also worth noting that if you’re an EU citizen and your country isn’t represented, you can contact any other EU member state’s representation.
