Safety
Crime and Delinquency
Crime is low in Uzbekistan, including in cities. However, this does not mean you should let your guard down.
Scams and "Tourist" Harassment
Socio-Political Risks and Terrorism
Due to recurring tensions and instability in the region, the terrorist threat cannot be ruled out in the country, though it should be kept in perspective. In fact, it is mainly near the eastern borders—with Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan (presence of landmines), and especially Afghanistan (incidents and tensions)—that vigilance and up-to-date information on the current situation are necessary. This is also why the Surxondaryo region, close to the Afghan border, requires special authorization for foreigners.

Foreign Consulates in the Country
If you encounter problems while traveling abroad, your country’s consular services can assist you. It’s also worth noting that if you are an EU citizen and your country is not represented, you can contact any other EU member state’s representation.
