Society in Haiti
Location Map of Haiti
Population
The vast majority of Haiti's population (95%) is of African descent, with mixed-race individuals making up the remaining 5%. It's worth noting that for centuries, white and mixed-race people largely dominated Haitian society at all levels, to the extent that even today, representation of people of African descent among the "local elites" remains very low.

Religion
Officially, 80% of Haiti's population is Catholic and 16% Protestant, although in reality, the latter may account for closer to a third of the population. As for Vodou, which has been recognized as an official religion since 2003, it is reportedly practiced by only 2.5% of the population, though these figures are widely underestimated. Vodou plays an important role in the lives of many Haitians, either in its original form or syncretized with Christian religions.
