Nature-Adventure

Baja California boasts remarkable landscapes, a mix of deserts, volcanoes, and rugged coastline. Ecotourism has flourished here in recent years, particularly at the southern tip in the Los Cabos region. Depending on the area, you can enjoy diving, surfing, hiking, and especially whale watching, which has become a "tourist specialty" of the region.

Culture

This region isn’t the Yucatán, and pre-Columbian or colonial-era cultural sites are rare. However, Sierra de San Francisco and its UNESCO-listed decorated caves, as well as a few colonial missions like the one in San Ignacio, are just about worth a detour. In short, Baja California isn’t a cultural destination in the historical sense.

Relaxation-Holidays

Beach relaxation and holiday tourism are a major draw for the peninsula, though it’s largely confined to two spots: Los Cabos in the south and the Ensenada region in the north. On the other hand, party and shopping tourism are very much present in the border cities of Mexicali and especially Tijuana.
