Nature & Adventure

The sea and its coastline (not always built up) on one side and the Pyrenees mountain range on the other. This gives the region a rich natural diversity with a wide range of outdoor activities available year-round, both in summer and winter.

Culture

Catalonia is not just about its beaches and seaside resorts. The city of Barcelona alone offers a very rich "historical and cultural" heritage, to which you can add all the remnants of the medieval era still visible in the hinterland, with beautiful old town centres (Girona, Lleida, Pals, Tossa de Mar...), fortresses like Cardona Castle, monasteries including the UNESCO-listed Poblet, and the medieval Romanesque churches of Vall de Boí, also a World Heritage site. Not to mention some of the great names in arts and culture like Dalí, Gaudí, Picasso, and others who left their mark on Catalonia.

Relaxation & Holidays

The name "Costa Brava" alone has evoked relaxation and holidays for millions of tourists for decades...

Catalonia is rich in beaches and seaside resorts. From the French border to neighbouring Valencian Community, two famous "costas" stretch along the coast, offering everything you need for a seaside holiday... but also huge crowds during the summer months.

  • Costa Brava: beaches, coves, and cliffs characterise this part of the Catalan coast, which runs for 160 kilometres from the French border to Blanes. Very touristy, it includes many seaside resorts such as Lloret de Mar, Roses, L'Escala, Sant Feliu, and others.
  • Costa Daurada: this tourist coastal area extends over 200 kilometres from Barcelona to the Valencian Community. It features beaches and cliffs with several seaside resorts, including Salou, Cambrils, and Sitges.
