As with most outdoor activities possible in the country, treks primarily take place in the Maloti Mountains with its various parks and nature reserves (Bokong, Sehlabathebe, Ts'ehlanyane National Park).

Lesotho is the land of the horse in Southern Africa. Besides still serving as a means of transport for some communities, horses are also used for tourists eager to explore the country's mountainous environment. A number of hiking trails can also be done on horseback.

Skiing
Located at over 3,000 meters above sea level in the northern Maloti Mountains, Afri-Ski is Lesotho's only winter sports resort. Along with Tiffindell in South Africa, it is also the only one in Southern Africa. It offers a small ski area catering overwhelmingly to a South African clientele.
