Nature-Adventure

This is the country’s strong point. Within just a few dozen kilometres, you can move from the coastline or the famous Bay of Kotor to the mountainous interior. In beautiful settings, these mountains offer a superb area for outdoor sports enthusiasts of all kinds, from hiking to rafting, caving, or skiing.

Culture

While not necessarily "transcendent," the country’s historical and cultural heritage is well worth a visit, if only for the city of Cetinje, the historical capital of Montenegro, which offers several interesting museums and civil or religious buildings to explore. Also worth seeing are the fortified old town of Kotor and the impressive Ostrog Monastery. Beyond the architecture and museums, Montenegro is also a mosaic of diverse populations that are well worth meeting.

Relaxation-Holidays

Though not yet at the level of its neighbour Croatia, Montenegro’s coast still has plenty to offer beach holiday lovers, with resorts like Bar or Budva attracting crowds in season. Meanwhile, the hinterland—whether in the countryside, mountains, or around the famous Bay of Kotor—always offers the charm, or even the tranquillity, of a relaxing holiday destination.

Independent Travel

Montenegro is an easy independent travel destination, perfect for beginner travellers, and doesn’t present any real challenges.
