When and Where to Go in Namibia
Best Times to Visit Namibia
Finding the best time to visit involves balancing climate conditions with crowd levels and the most attractive prices for travel and on-site expenses.
The best climatic period to visit Namibia is primarily between April and September-October. This is when you can fully enjoy the interior and national parks, some of which (including Etosha) are closed at the start and end of the year. As for the coast, its temperatures and climate remain relatively constant year-round.
That said, June to September marks the peak of the high season, with European travelers (South Africans tend to visit in December-January) and occasional crowds at the most popular sites—though it’s still far from the crowds (and price hikes) seen in other countries. However, for campsites near major attractions, booking in advance is essential during this period.
In short, the ideal time for Namibia is between April and October, particularly at the start and end of this window.
