Hi,

Ragamuffin - Solene40 - Herodotos - Lillieone - Rouquine38 - Kate

And eco4fuel? 😛

The thing is, all forum members can vote, not just those who submit photos. Maybe it’d be helpful to remind everyone.

Well, most of them anyway 😅 Yeah, I know, mine too! Only 2 days left, folks 😛

Just ask Bruno 😊 3 points for photo #2 by Rouquine Because I’ve traveled through the Algarve so many times with my parents, and especially those amazing colors

2 points for photo #3 by Montagnard You can’t get more on-theme than this 😍

And 1 point for photo #3 by Rouquine (yep, again) because I love that little white house echoing the snowy peak behind it, all in the middle of wild nature

Have a great evening, everyone, and thanks to Bruno for this top-notch organization. I’m happy not to win because the bar is set so high 😊

Here’s my vote:

3 points: Herodotos - Photo 1 - Costa Vincentina, Portugal Perfectly on theme—you can really see the sea raging and attacking the cliff.

2 points: Attila - Photo 1 - Vágar, Faroe Islands This photo makes me want to go there. Not for the weather, but to take some shots myself.

1 point: Montagnard - Photo 3 - The Twelve Apostles, Australia The inspiration for this theme—very photogenic indeed.

3 points for Attila 2 (the fisherman) Great balance in the image: the sea foam, the cumulus clouds, and of course, the cliffs.

2 points for Rouquine 2 (Algarve) These cliffs are super popular, but what amazing light!

1 point for Dolma 1 (Normandy) The importance of the foreground for this spot.

Out of everything on offer, I have a soft spot for photos of grand cliffs with a human scale... in misty lands I don’t know.

Photo 1 – 3 points: Attila1 for the great atmosphere, the verticality of the waterfall... Photo 2 – 2 points: Attila3... the people looking like tiny insects on the ridge. Photo 3 – 1 point: Hérodotos2 for cliffs that stand out from the ordinary.

I’m taking the chance to cast my votes before the contest closes:

- 3 points: Attila Photo 3: The Faroe Islands For the tiny dotted details and the gigantic cliffs in the background. And because it’s not raining!

- 2 Points: Rouquine 38 photo 3: Iceland. The colors are just stunning, and the snow-capped mountain in the background is gorgeous. I also really love the framing.

- 1 Point: Poste42: Corsica and Sardinia, Sardinia or Corsica... For the originality of the shot.

There you go—you’ve only got a few hours left to vote, and then I’ll get to work compiling everything for you tomorrow morning!! Have a great evening

Good evening

My votes

3 points for photo No. 1 by Attila. Faroe Islands, cliffs, waterfall, and fog.

2 points for photo No. 2 by Rouquine38. Algarve—I’ve never visited even though I spent a night in Faro because a flight to Lisbon was diverted. But no time to wander back then, it was a "business" trip 😐

1 point for photo No. 1 by Herodotos. Calanques of Marseille. I was able to take the time to stroll there for a few hours—absolute bliss.

Hello everyone.

First of all, thanks for your posts and votes. 12 entries—it’s not so bad after all... Time for the results, and our big winner of the month is:

ATTILA photo 1: the Faroe Islands who takes the prize with 18 points. Congrats Agnès on this win, even without sunshine 😉

In second place, despite multiple recounts, three photos couldn’t be separated: In this order, if we had to count the number of 3-point votes:

Rouquine38: Iceland – 11 points Rouquine38: Algarve – 11 points Montagnard74: Great Ocean Road – 11 points.

Also highly voted: Hérodotos 1: Alentejo (8 pts) Attila 2: Portugal (8 pts)

There you go—congrats again, Agnès! You’ve earned the right to set up a new contest, and I get to go back to being a spectator!! Have a great day, everyone.

P.S.: Apologies to the photographers—I had to resize the images to get them accepted on the server.

Everything was there: the crown of clouds caressing the panorama, the waterfall plunging into the sea, the little village lost in the scenery, a few bold colors amid the grayness.

Knowing Agnès’s contradictory nature, I hope she doesn’t pick the topic: "Cliffs Without the Sea" 😉

So Bruno doesn’t think the Faroe Islands are just rain, mist, and fog, here’s proof to the contrary!

Congrats Agnès! 👏

I don’t know much about photography, and apparently everyone’s aware since I pretty much only post vertical photos 😅.

Can you tell me why "they’re rarely voted for"? Just found that out! !

Congrats Agnès 👏

Can you tell me why "they’re rarely popular"? Just found that out!

Sorry, Christelle, you didn’t ask me, but I’ll chime in anyway .

What you call vertical photos is actually portrait mode... as the name suggests, this framing is classically used for portraits ;). Landscape format was actually a better fit for the theme. Agnès’s photo is gorgeous—the icing on the cake would’ve been some big, menacing dark clouds . Portrait mode works perfectly here (though that’s just my opinion), as the foreground draws your eye straight to the gap created by the two rocks in the water. In landscape format, the effect wouldn’t have been the same because there’d be more sea or more rock.

Thanks Isabelle for the explanations. I don’t use "portrait" mode—it’s just that I take almost all my photos with my smartphone 😄. And I read VF on my smartphone too! So, I might need to check out the next contest on a computer for better image quality! See you soon 😉

I do exactly the same as you—just phone, never computer. I really struggle to upload photos to the site.
AT Attila Globetrotter ·
The winning photo was taken with a smartphone.😉

If you only take "portrait" photos, it means you always use your smartphone vertically...

It’s easier to hold than horizontally, but you’re missing out on so many possibilities !
Ponts du monde : concours de photos amical de juillet 2026 Rubrique Jeux Voyages C'est le moment de poster vos meilleurs clichés !
AT Attila Globetrotter ·
Why? Because of the minimum size limit?

Photos taken with a basic smartphone (like mine) usually don’t need to be cropped to fit.

If you crop too much, you’ll quickly fall below the required dimensions and lose quality too.

Thanks for your reply. But it also needs to include converting them from HEIC to JPG.
JO Jojoone1 Globetrotter ·
I connect my smartphone to my computer, transfer the photos into a dedicated folder on the computer, and later when I’m on VF, I select the photo from the computer folder. No extra steps, no file conversion needed.
