Good evening,

First of all, a big thank you to Agnès for the photorama 😉

Just a reminder that there are still 3 hours left (until 11:59 PM) to vote and find out the contest results.

And last but not least, here’s my vote for this contest:

3 points for photo No. 2 by Dolma and her fish market in Galle, southern Sri Lanka.

2 points for photo No. 1 by Kate and another fish market in Pondicherry, South India.

1 point for photo No. 1 by Lillione and her rug.

Have a great evening

Photo No. 3 by Girardinpho put up a good fight for second place with 17 points.

Photo No. 2 by Kate comes in third with 9 points.

It narrowly beats Photo No. 2 by Dolma, which scored 8 points.

Congrats to Rouquine38 for her "crushing" victory—it’s now up to her to organize the May 2025 contest!

Great choice of a theme that interests everyone (or almost everyone 😛)

Good luck! 😏

Hello! We even get to see the nighttime results! Congrats Isabelle on this win—you’ve been so close to the podium in a few contests lately! Thanks to Raga for hosting this month. Even though the theme didn’t inspire me much, I still got to see some beautiful photos.

A huge thank you to everyone who voted for the fish and the Pied Kingfisher! 😊 Congrats to Girardinpho and Kate—my favorite photos! 🤩

Thanks to Ragamuffin for organizing the contest.

I’ll try to post May’s theme within the next hour, otherwise it’ll be tomorrow. I’m currently up north in Finland and heading out for a hide session in an hour—network coverage is really spotty there until tomorrow. 🥶

Have a great day

Hi Isabelle,

When I saw your photo pop up on the screen, I immediately thought: "this is the one!". Congratulations! Perfect sharpness of the subject against a blurred background (I can’t remember what this technique is called in contemporary photography jargon), a diagonal line running from the prey’s tail to the predator’s beak. I assume this is an image from a burst-mode series. That said—can I?—while the eye is immediately drawn to the subject, it quickly shifts (at least mine did) to that fluffy ball, making me wonder about its position. But I’m nitpicking—perfection isn’t of this world—and I’ll repeat my compliments.

If I understood correctly, you’ve specialized in wildlife photography. On that note, have you heard of the International Festival of Wildlife and Nature Photography (FIPAN) held every autumn in Montier-en-Der (Haute-Marne)? This year, it’s from November 20th to 23rd. There’s also a photo contest organized annually. I think you’d fit right in. Unfortunately, registrations for this year closed yesterday!

Maybe you’ve never heard of Pascal Bourguignon, a local professional wildlife photographer and co-organizer of the festival.

Hi Michel, Thanks for your compliments and your analysis of this photo. Yes, it was taken in burst mode. Actually, I cropped my photo so the fish would take up a big part of the shot to fit the theme. When I get home, I’ll post the original photo—you can really see the Pied Kingfisher there 😊

Yes, I know the Montier-en-Der international festival very well—we go every year. Actually, it’s mostly my husband who does wildlife photography, and I just tag along, but I love it too.
