After your lovely photos of Pamplemousse, I’m still sharing a few of mine... but just for fun, not competing! 😉

Anyway, you nailed it with Central Park! I really love the photo!

At the same time, is posting two photos of the same park against the rules? #contest !

I don’t know if it’s actually banned or not… but I don’t wanna copy the other gals 😂 😂 😂

I’ll have to draw faster next time 😄

Gotta hurry for my 3rd one ;) But seriously, it doesn’t matter—it’s actually really interesting to see different perspectives on the same place...

Absolutely, Kate! I love seeing how others view the same topic—it’s often super insightful 😊

It's not forbidden unless the person organizing the contest specified it in the rules.

I did it for the World Monuments contest and it caused quite a stir...

I did it for the World Monuments contest and oh boy, did people complain…

Ah! But the organizer should be able to set their own rules. Not allowing two photos of the same place ensures great diversity, but on the other hand, if you want more participants, it’s better to be more open 😅

I don’t mind if you post a photo of Chenonceau 😉, especially since the site is so big—there’s little chance it’ll be the same view (though 🤪... like Kate’s photo and mine of the cactus garden in Lanzarote 😏). I’d better hurry and post my latest photo 🤣

Good evening Isabelle, and everyone else

Ah! But the person organizing should be able to set their own rules. Not allowing two photos of the same place ensures nice diversity, but on the other hand, if we want more participants, it’s better to be more open 😅

The rule this month is that there’s no rule about the number of photos allowed for the same place. I do think it’s more interesting to show the diversity of gardens, but if several people want to post photos taken in the same garden, that’s no problem. Your photo of the gardens of Chenonceaux is really quite different from Muriel’s taken in the same spot. It’s pretty amusing this month that it’s a relatively small number of gardens around the world that’s catching the attention of participating photographers. Hi Muriel,

So glad you're here to keep this thread alive—it’s clearly not the most inspiring one! 🙂 Maybe modern folks just aren’t into gardens anymore...

I really like the photos of Singapore’s airport.

A garden I’ve been dreaming about for ages, and I *might* finally wander through it this winter—at last!!!

this topic clearly not very inspiring.

I’m really surprised by how few photos have been posted—I actually found the theme really broad... and inspiring (though I have to admit, after going through the garden photos I’d taken here and there, they’re not always as good as I remembered! 😕)

I can’t tell which garden you’re dreaming about because when I click on the supposed link, nothing happens .

Maybe gardens are places that are tricky to photograph... Or maybe travelers just don’t think to take photos, happy to wander through them or relax after sightseeing...

If I hadn’t lost my hard drive, I’d have shared a collection of Italian gardens here (Boboli, Tivoli, Caserta, etc.), with their neatly trimmed boxwood hedges, the tall cypress trees, fountains, and pools.

The link was supposed to take you to a photo of Shazdeh Garden in Kerman Province. For those interested in Persian gardens, check here.

Hey Bruno,

I bend the rules with my own take on parks and gardens 😉 Like I often do, I go for close-ups to show details. To me, it’s more aesthetic, but I admit it’s not at all informative or even recognizable! Luckily, photography gives us that freedom ¾

Hi Noëlle,

Since I don’t live too far from the Netherlands, I’ve been thinking about visiting Keukenhof for quite a few years now... but I still haven’t taken the plunge because I’m worried about being overwhelmed by the crowds 😕. From your photos, it looks busy but manageable—is that the case?

Hi Muriel, I visited Keukenhof during the second half of April, which is supposed to be the peak blooming period (around the 20th). Some years, by early May, almost everything is wilted if it’s been warm. To avoid the crowds, we booked for a Tuesday and arrived shortly after opening. There are more people in the afternoon with organized tours. We spent the day there and didn’t even walk all the paths—the park is huge! There are several exhibition halls showcasing different flower varieties, including new tulip types, as well as amaryllis, alstroemeria, orchids, and you’ll find restaurants and cafés scattered around at reasonable prices. It’s breathtaking—they use 8 million bulbs, including over 800 varieties of tulips out of the 8,000 recorded. We found accommodation in Haarlem, a beautiful city about 20 km from Keukenhof and just half an hour by train from Amsterdam, which we also visited during the trip. My biggest worry was the rain, but we lucked out with good weather. Weekends during that period are packed—I think it can even sell out (worth checking).

Hey Bruno

I wonder if I’m off-topic with this one, though it *is* a world park....

Yeah, a little. A national park is still different from a park/garden. So, you can either suggest another one with the same number or leave it as is and let the voters decide. 🙂

Thanks Noelle for this stunning series. When we look at your photos, it seems like taking great garden shots isn’t that hard after all. 😉
