Hi everyone,

Proof that water can inspire so many people—the voting is really tough this time!

🙂🙂🙂 : Xrctn’s photo 1: Lake Peyto, the colors are just stunning 🙂🙂 : Kate’s photo 1: Mattupetty Lake in Kerala, I loved the framing and the colors too 🙂 : Gaura’s photo 1: because it’s Lake Geneva! 😛 And because I remember that winter so well.

Thanks to everyone for these beautiful photos—there are so many that choosing is particularly tough 😕 But since a decision had to be made...

Tylassin 2 (Hokkaido) 🙂🙂🙂 Attila 2 (Minique Lagoon): 🙂🙂 Philippebrg 3 (Inle Lake): 🙂

I ended up picking based on my morning mood 😎 and favoring photos where it was really the body of water (not another element) that caught my eye. Otherwise, it could just as easily have been one of xrctn’s 3 photos (especially #2), Unamilanese’s #1, Rouquine38’s #2 or #3, Puma2’s #2, Ragamuffin’s #1 or #3, Tylassin’s #3, Gaura’s #2, or even Phippebrg’s #2.

and by prioritizing photos where it was truly the expanse of water (and not another element) that caught my eye.

Thanks, you reminded me of an obvious criterion, which helps me choose 😉

Ragamuffin, photo 3, 3 points Beautiful symmetry created by the reflection in the water. My first choice is motivated by the discreet presence of the inhabitants, which brings the scene to life (I’d try a black & white treatment—the textures and contrasts lend themselves well to it).

Xrctn, photo 2, 2 points A very successful aerial view thanks to the graphic tableau effect. Perfect balance between two colors with an organic contrast (green and brown).

Tylassin, photo 2, 1 point A soothing image typical of Japanese atmospheres, where trees play the role of a natural frame. I love the sense of intimacy it conveys.

Hello,

I hope you’ll forgive me, but I just can’t make up my mind (not even for a single suggested image), so I’m casting a "blank" vote...

Good luck to all the contestants! Best regards,

I'm far from being an expert on this contest, but I guess a blank vote is allowed, just like in "real life" 😏. I also think that just because you participated in the contest doesn’t mean you’re "obligated" to vote 😉

Hi everyone, and thanks for participating! 🙂

Here are the results of February’s contest: No big surprise (given the number of nominations), Xrctn is leading with his photo #2 (lakes seen from a plane), 15 points, closely followed by ... Xrctn and his photo #1 (Lac Peyo), 11 points; Tied for third place with 8 points: Attila photo #2 (Laguna Miniques) and Unamilanese photo #1 (the glacial lake).

Congrats, Xavier—so it’s (doubly) up to you to organize March’s contest! 😉

Thanks, Muriel, and double thanks to those who liked my photos this month. Thanks also to all the participants. Thrilled to be back on the podium after several lean years.

Shows that silver (given the number of second places) can turn into gold—real alchemy! Perfect transition for next month’s theme, where we’ll switch elements since it’ll be all about metal.

It’s a long weekend here, so give me a little time to set everything up since I’m not at home.

In the meantime, you can always dig through your hard drives and look for your metallic suggestions!

See you very soon… A pinch and a punch for the first day of the month. X

Congrats on this double podium, Xavier.

In the end, this contest, which was so tough to vote on, had unanimous results!

Looking forward to seeing the new contest with the "offbeat hours" 😉

Hello,

Congrats to the winners!! 😉

Maybe it’d be possible to display the winning images along with the results? (Like, automatically, when the results are published...!!)

Thanks if that’s doable. Cheers.
