Re: Pair of Cape Verde islands: which to choose based on my criteria?
Well, I guess that means we’re the ones partying too hard...
Or maybe we just got lucky?[;)]
Honestly, during our stay, you couldn’t say there was much noise!
We had a nice evening with musicians until around 10 PM, I think... Then bedtime!
The real party was in Mindelo! We really enjoyed the rehearsals for February’s carnival (we were there at the end of January). Otherwise, did you go to Tarrafal de Monte Trigo? I *loved* that little corner of the world... way more than Tarrafal on Santiago! (Let’s just say they’re *very* different.)
The dates are flexible, but more towards the previous month...
Otherwise, it’s too close to the next vacation and too far from the previous one.
The outbound flight to Praia is good from Paris: afternoon departure and midnight arrival. Basically perfect for driving to the airport calmly and then a stress-free flight with a fairly long layover in Lisbon.
But on SV, it’s tricky both ways.
I’m wondering if I should still spend two nights in Praia...
Then a domestic flight and return from SV, maybe with 2 nights in Lisbon for a quick visit!
Anyway, a morning flight from Lyon would mean sleeping in Lyon the night before...[:|]

Re: Dual islands in Cape Verde: which one to choose based on my criteria?
When you say "soirées," do you mean nights? (Like, music after, say, 11 PM)
If there’s a party and I join in, it doesn’t bother me.
It’s only an issue if it goes on for part of the night or if I’m not there...
Also, I don’t really get the impression that Cape Verdean parties are like a rave in the middle of a field? (I’m talking about the music.)
Especially my partner !
I’ve stayed a few nights at Aldea Panoramica twice. The first time: not a sound, complete calm. The second time: we also had some entertainment (noise). And I know that just a little further down, near Pensão Chez Sandro, there’s a bar that often has music. It’s kind of hit or miss, which is why earplugs can come in handy.
When musicians play in restaurants or do "tourist entertainment," it’s Cape Verdean music—traditional and pleasant to the ear. But young people in Cape Verde, just like everywhere else, party with boom-boom-boom music, techno, and bass turned all the way up... especially in the second half of the night!

Re: Cape Verde island duo: which one to choose based on my criteria?
The worst part is that, even if you're deaf, the boom boom drives you crazy because you can feel it even without hearing.
Brazilian teenagers are also addicted to this crap.
I forgot about one night in Pocone when we had to switch hotels at 10 PM because of a gathering of young people in the village square.
The hotel owner didn’t charge us anything, and the other innkeeper was laughing when he heard the name of the place we’d just left...
Is there a particular day for young people’s parties in Cape Verde?
Are they on vacation in March?

No, there aren’t any specific days for festivals. Like everywhere, there’s a slightly higher chance on weekends and long weekends, but it could just as well be mid-week!
But don’t let that hold you back for your vacation. That’s life!!!
Generally, no vacations in March unless Easter falls in March.

I’m not lucky—Easter falls in March.
I’ll have to avoid it, then (I saw that Good Friday is the public holiday), just like Carnival...
Noise is definitely the thing that can make me run for the hills.
I’d much rather sleep in a tent in the quiet pampa than in a palace surrounded by noisy people...
I’ll have to skip hotels in favor of house rentals.
Preferably in the middle of nowhere...
Oh well, no restaurant dinners for me—I’ll do the grocery shopping instead!

I’m not lucky—Pâques falls in March.

Yes, Pâques will be at the end of March next year, but I don’t get the impression there’s more partying or noise during the holidays... I don’t think that should stop you from planning your trip. I’m sure everything will be fine overall in that regard!
